We started our buy with chess. After he had mastered chess, we send him to weiqi. He seems to prefer weiqi. He said it is more interesting And complicated that chess. We started off our younger daughter with weiqi but she is not as keen as her older brother. We wanted her to pick up weiqi or chess so that she can improve her concentration and thinking skills.

You are refering to International chess or xiang qi?

My ds starts to learn xiang qi from his father since 5 yrs old and his grandpa is his playing partner since then. Recently, i signed him up to 5 days weiqi course at the weiqi assoc at Bishan CC. He found it fun. Nevertheless, I think he still prefer xiang qi to weiqi.. 😄 ..So I am looking forward to this dec holiday to let him join the weiqi intermediate course. :imcool:

                Hi,

My 9 yrs old son is interested in playing chess. I learned and played chess with him leisurely. I intend to put him in a chess club where he can learn the game professionally. However, I can't seem to find one near where I stay, Marine Parade. Does anyone knows?
There is this new chess school in Joo Chiat.
                Chess Academy (S) Pte Ltd
                http://www.chessacademy.com.sg/
The school only provide beginner course. If your son is an advance player,
then you have to look at other options.
Drop me a note if you required more info, as my ds started chess when he was 5, he is 7 this year.

Group class is $35 for 2 hours
However, the group class is not as structure as Inchess (Asian Chess Academy) and SCF (Singapore Chess Federation). It is more for intermediate or advance players.

                  The private lesson (1 to 1) is S$70 /hr.
It is the most ex among the players in SIN.

Chesskidz now located at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre. They have good and experience trainers from Philipines. They do produce top players.
Can try, but no notes or worksheet will be given during class.

                      Hi birdie,

Thank you for addressing my queries.

I am in contact with Chesskidz LLP to find a suitable lesson time for my kids. Their location is near our place so I should not have looked further.

Your reassurance that their trainers are experienced takes away the remaining doubts I have to enrol my kids with them.

                      Thanks!
