All About SAP Schools

hi, can I check, are all SAP schools considered GOOD schools? We're thinking of Pei Chun Public School. There seems to be balloting each year. Does it mean it's a good school? Thanks.

I am not sure how MOE decides which schools get SAP school status, but l will assume all SAP schools must be at least above average?

i read in moe website that all the sch have to be certain standard then can get the status. maybe u can find out more. so definitely better. A few mummies we compare the tests and worksheets. seems like SAP is definitely tougher not in chinese only but all subjects.

Between Poi Ching that is within walking distance and RGPS. Which is the one to go for? In terms of sch awards - POi Ching pales in comparison to RGPS.

Poi Ching is not a new school. In fact it is a very old one - abt 92 years old. It used to be beside Pei Chun in Toa Payoh but there was no space to expand, it moved out about 12 years ago. The building is still in Toa Payoh but it is used for other purposes.

The CL at PCS in my time was quite high. Imagine me this type, family and relatives none speak Chinese, I also can get A for PSLE just by doing school's work. Now I'm not sure but I think PCS adopted some CL-teaching system.

If you have dd and ds, maybe PCS is more convenient. If u only have dd, it's your choice. If it were still in Toa Payoh, I would have put my kids there.

It is special assistance given to Chinese language based school

That is why other good schools like RGPS and MGS are not SAP schools

My friend's kids were all in/from Poi Ching. She herself was from there (yeah, TP), but so coincidentally, they are living not far from new location after married. And yes, the Chinese standard is still rather high.

RGPS. The performance of their better mainstream classes is very good, which I would take to imply that the school does a good job in preparing them for PSLE.

every child will sit for the normal MT. the higher MT is an additional paper

PSLE t-score is based on the 4 core subjects, higher MT is excluded

higher MT is graded distinction, merit, pass, or fail

if applying to SAP school, higher MT, which is HCL, will give the student 3 additional points if got distinction, 2 for merit, 1 for pass, zero for fail
