Funx3:
BTW did you try for SOTA as well?
Bro Mark, Must Clarify ....markfch:
But they are not national champions. Your dd is not in national team but still came in as champ.
Those Gals R National Champs!
Coz in the RG Arena, The Gals Compete in different Skill Level / stages.
My Gal is Competing in a Different Level from the National Team Gals last year, She's in Level 2 and they R in Stage 2 (Elite Level) ....
and this year Spore Open in June as Well, My Gal competes in Level 3, And they R in Stage 3 (Elite Level) ....
So Coming in Champ for Level is Still Not as Good as them in Stage Level (Skill wise
) ....
I'm Just Keeping My :xedfingers: that My Gal's Sch Results + RG Achievement will give her a good Fighting Chance to be consider Good Enuf for a CO ....

I like to ask those whose kids in P2 - DD1 is supposed to do a simple Chinese compo from a given pic. How many lines are students supposed to write anyway? She only managed about less than half the foolscap paper.

If I am not wrong, SA1 they are required to write at least 80 words. Maybe will increase to 100-120 words in SA2. -
Anyone knows how many PVs >2km did not get into PH? Ummβ¦why did PH take in so many PVs this yr vs last yr? Thought last yr only 20+? They should have learnt the lesson from last year in recruiting less PVs, and also taking into accounts the church members from 38 churches and GRL. Or the school purposely did that to show itβs popularity?
Understand that some mission schools do not have PVs as they are aware that many church members will register, e.g SJI Junior and MGS.
If want to take in so many PVs, then should not reduce the number of classes. Just show bad planning either at MOE or at the school side.
On the other hand, I am very impressed with South View and Henry Park. All their PVs got in. South View had extra 2 vacancies from 2B carried forward to 2C. -
Scary:
Don't think so, that's why they turn down a lot of PV because they know there will be palces taken up by the church members. I read somewhere in this thread that the P always want to ensure all PV gets in, but sometime it kind of hard to predict.Or the school purposely did that to show it's popularity?

Trapwithin:
Last yr 20+ pvs and a couple of them did not get in. This yr increase no. of PVs and yet reduce class. Don't see the logic. Actually their PVs no. kind of high this yr. It's comparable to some top schools without church affiliation or even more.

If I am the P, I will use last yr's stats less 15 due to reduction in class no., i.e. 29 vacancies at phase 2B. If take in 33 PVs, definitely many will not be able to get in. Even if use 44 vacancies and take in 33 PVs, how can church members and GRL be only 11 when there are 38 Presbyterian churches in SG?
The P already knew the no. of church members that will be applying to the school in March/April. I believe there are around 30 or more. This no. should not vary much in the last few years. It's very obvious then that the supply cannot meet demand and the PVs > 2km are at high risk. -

Last year should have 30+ PVs...Ask bro markfch...
Actually, the P already reduced the PVs for this intake...but somehow some rejected parents appealed and was asked to do 100hrs by the school. Maybe the school gave them the 100 hrs hoping that they would back out but they accepted willingly. Now some couldn't get in and started throwing mug at the school...
P2B is just a game and one must accept the result sportingly...if not, don't be in the game.... -

Yes, most parents will not take it lying down. Thus, the article in Zaobao. This is not referring to PH only. A few other schools are badly affected too.
Oh yes, a few parents PV for 2 schools. Think MOE should come up with a database to check this.
Though I am not affected by this cos I never PV in any, I am aware of the heart wrenching balloting that these parents had to go through after putting in their precious hrs. The balloting is not for the weak hearted. Will be good if fewer parents need to go through it as some may even need to go through it 2X. -
Scary:
Since when did P2B become a guaranteed phase? :scratchhead:

markfch:
I also thought all along not guaranteed. A PH PV may have called the reporter to blow up the issue and hope that the school can be more opened and do something about it? Regardless what it is, I still hope that any parent will not need to go through balloting 2X. (The high chance of going through 1X already causes sleepless nights for me. Going through 2X I may end up in IMH.:()

Does anyone have a copy of the Zaobao? What does it say? Thanks.
