Hi all,


though this discussion sometimes deviate sideways from the headlined topic, it is still very interesting to hear both extreme views as well.

If the PTC invites the public to share their views, I think some of the forumers here are more than capable of providing the ammunitions for discussion :evil: :evil:

I always find TKL to be trying a little too hard to champion the \"people's\" view. I would be happy if he is really sincere about solving the problem and not doing this just to bolster his presidential bid's chances.

Then again, this is politics. Who am I kidding?

Strparent, I would bet TT will stay neutral on this issue - i.e. until he gets elected. If he is in favour, he'll be out-of-favour with many commuters. Yet, he will certainly not say anything against PM since PM has already made comments. So he is the least likely person to comment on this topic.

The problem with many train commuters is that they have the misconception that SMRT buys trains. Well SMRT does not have enough train and it is LTA who purchases the trains and SMRT does not have any say in that, therefore the only way is to deploy more of its trains which is what SMRT is doing right now. All serviceable trains are out of the depot during peak hour. Therefore many people are putting the blame on SMRT when SMRT is seriously helpless. It can't increase train frequency because there are not enough trains. As for inconsiderate commuters, what does SMRT have to do with it? Did SMRT cause commuters to be inconsiderate? In fact, running those trains for longer periods of time leads to higher maintenance costs!


Therefore, if you want to complain, complain to LTA, not SMRT. It's not SMRT's problem that overcrowding exists. It's because LTA isn't doing enough. Even the platform screen doors are installed by LTA, so it's LTA's problem that it's going slow. And also because SMRT has to increase train trips, leading to higher maintenance costs, that the fares have to increase :stupid: so the real cause is population rise and influx of foreigners, and LTA being silent about the problem!

a good cook can make a good meal out of any ingredient

and a good buyer knows what is a good meal to buy regardless of cooking ability

children also at fault because they don't appreciate it takes effort to do marketing and cooking and it takes time to prepare a meal :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
