Hi,

I will be registering under P2C for Shuqun Pri (within 1-2km, in fact where we live is very near to the 1km radius from Shuqun). Looking at the vacancy, which is 91 places left, will there be any slightest chance of getting a place? Confirm the school will go into balloting for those within 1km but I just want to assure myself that the risk i'm taking is a sane risk.

If not my Plan B will be sending him to Lakeside Pri ( within 1km ).

      Help! 😮

As of last year record, Shuqun has balloting available in Phase 2C for those staying less than 1km only..so perhaps you like to monitor situation before you go for the registration this year?

If i remembered correctly, last year had about 10 kids more than the available places in P2C. If the ratio is similar this year and if you are a citizen (2 ballots slips), you stand a very high chance.
I agree with Champion. Although the balloting for past few years have been for 1 - 2km, balloting last year was for those staying <1km so if you (afiqa) stay 1 - 2km (even if just past the border) you will not have a chance to ballot.

IMHO, the fight this year is likely to be within 1km too as Shuqun is getting more sought after and i also suspect a spillover effect due to reduction of places..

jon00, you are referring to balloting for <1km for last year, no?

      Good luck, afiqa! :xedfingers:

Everyone will be protective over the school their kids go to, especially if the teachers and the programmes have really benefitted the kids. I would do the same for CPS. šŸ™‚

        Totally agreed :).

jon00, thanks! so we are referring to the same thing. šŸ˜„

Which means that afiqa who stays 1 - 2km doesn't actually stand a very high chance.. unfortunately.

I’m currently staying within < 1km of West Grove. Do I have to register on the first day of Phase 2c or wait on the last day to see what is the percentage of securing the place for my son since there will be definitely a balloting for applicants less than < 1 km based on the previous year?

If you have more or less decided on West Grove, no point waiting, right? Whether you register on the first or last day doesn't make any difference. Might as well get it over and done with, and wait for 05 Aug for the balloting.

On the other hand, if you are considering West Grove and another school, may be good to wait till the last day.

Have a backup plan because West Grove traditionally requires balloting for those staying within 1 km.

Living >2km from Rulang, my little one will register next yr. submitted PV application, considering move to <1km from RL if got PV. Now thinking whether worthy, as this yr phase 2B so tough. :? 19 vacancies for 2B, means those PV staying <1km maybe got chances. :scared: , but guess they got 50 PVs mah.

I am not the lucky type in any kind of lucky draw leh. :imcool:

maybe shd just stick to the west grove or Jurong west as they all <1km and not as crowded as RL.

or maybe next yr not be so tough in RL? who knows~

still got time to think about this, :stupid: already headache.

not easy to be parents 🤷

Your plan is a good one and would have been perfect last year and the years before.. it is true that after what is happening this year, it is kinda hard to predict what is the outcome next year...

There is also a high chance that the scholl might reduce the PV intake which would then tweak to chances to a more ideal situation. But of course, that will only make the challenge of getting accepted as PV even tougher..

IMHO, wait for your PV approval then go for the PV briefing to determine how many PVs are taken and what is the distance breakdown (if they would disclose). By then, you would also know the over-subscription rate of this year's Phase 2C for all 3 schools and should be able to gauge your chances slightly better.

Meanwhile, try to find out more about the other 2 schools, maybe you will find that that is your preferred option in the end.

Tough choices there, I know.. :nailbite:
