plus those 28 already in phase 2B (all within 1km), a total of 69 within 1 km is quite unbelievable -

It's not unbelievable, during my kid's balloting yr, it was 60 within 1km. In NYPS website, it showed 61, the one kid was outside 1km.superduperks:

That’s because the figure includes PRs. There are soooo… many PRs living within 1 km of brand name schools in B Timah. This is going too far. I think give them 1/2 chance also not fair to us citizens.
If they really want good schools, then become citizens lah! -
NonKiasuDad:
how do you know there are so many PRs ? and around NYPS is mostly landed housing, and many of them are already under Phase 1 due to siblings .... but for first time registration got so many ? how many are not staying there ? that is what I am trying to ask !!That's because the figure includes PRs. Yeah… I don’t usually find so many young school goers ard this area. Whether truly 1km or not, MOE should really step in and do their part.

those landed houses around NYPS are not exactly cheap
semi-d these days are $6m or higher, terrace unit around $4m, GCB is anything more than $15m to $30m a piece
or if bought much earlier, may be half the price
how many PRs can there be ? can count the number of housing units. Casabella is already out of 1 km zone. Farrer Court is no more, Queen’s Road Blk 3 to Blk 8 are mostly 3 room flats, old households, not many kids are from there
and many of the kids we see on the road are already under phase 1
I am not PR, but keep blaming the PR is of no use unless one has the right data -
You are right, traffic can’t be that bad, say 20-30 yrs ago… I was merely quoting what that parent wrote in her post. Staying near the sch do not mean that one would school there. For my DH’s family, only 1 out of 12 siblings went to NY despite being so near as during those days (v long ago), NY was not all that famous and it was a Chinese school and an all girls school. My DH and most of his siblings attended English schools else where. Otherwise, our DS did not have to ballot in 2C.

so, a lot of over generalisation huh - talking about traffic condition for \"more than 30 years\"....
as what you said herein, it reinforces the question where to find so many within 1 km suddenly ?
actually NYPS quite well known since last time liao, PM Lee also attended there, though it was an all-girls school officially known as NYGH, it has a primary section which caters to the boys as well....they were the full school then, until MOE split out the primary section as a full fledged primary school
by the way, the governing board members continues to donate lots of money in the recent fund raising by the school. They have to raise $10m before MOE will let them start the expansion program. NYPS is not a public school - it is a government aided school
