      MadScientist:

Any parents here alumni of SJIJ (SMS)?

How does the P1 registration process goes, and is there an official alumni or SJIOBA?

      Appreciate advice.

      Cheers!

      Hi Madscientist,
If i'm not wrong there's no official alumni for SJIJ/SMS. Being in SJIOBA does not give you any priority in P1 registration. If you are an old boy of SMS, simply bring your old report book as proof during registration.

Oh gosh... I did so badly then, I burned the report book!

      Thanks for the heads up.

Going to register my son on Thursday. We fall under 1-2km and school website says this has to be balloted based on the last five years. Praying this year will be different and my son will definitely get in. Any idea when the school will conduct the balloting and how long it takes? If kena ballot, I have to be there to know the results immediately.

          Hi jacsplace

You will most likely need to ballot cause the statistics are quite correct. Wish you good luck! 😄

My boy is in P1 this year and so far he enjoys school. School is not very academically driven like some mentioned but that is fine to me cause I do want my boy (and myself 😉 to be too stress. Some parents do complain that school is a bit slack and also complain about the standards in Chinese. They should know beforehand, being a mission school, you should not expect too much in Chinese right? 😉

I have choosen SJIJ for my boys for the school's history and afflilation with SJI and also because of my religion. So far, no regrets 😄

MOE website says: \"Announcement of Results: Friday 5 August 2011\" so I guess the ballot will be conducted on that day?

I was at the ballot last year, i remembered it starts at 9am and lasted about half an hour. And most parents were there to witness the ballot.

Most importantly, I wish u all the best of luck!!! :xedfingers: Judging by the numbers so far, there will be balloting for 1-2km lah.

No. I rang up another school and the told me the system shuts at 4.30pm SHARP. but i dint give up. i rush home from work n i went home to collect my documents, and reached at 4.50pm and they say registration is closed. anyway that school have 100 applicants out of 57 seats, 99 are within 1km ( same as me). so only have 57% chance to get in… I m so lost now.

                      celes7,
You mean cut-off at 1km? No balloting for 1 - 2 km? Oh dear! This is really abnormal. Last year 60% chance balloting for 1-2km.

I guess many many PRs in that area. If you look at the kindergartens in that area, you will know what I mean.
