:!: Uh... BP has so many pai gia? I thought only Teck Whye SS has those trouble-makers...

There seems to be a disconnect in BPGHS that I don't understand. On one hand, it has a good express course but on the other hand, it still has normal course.

In fact, their normal students top the 'N' level cohort.
Which school has no \"pai gia\" ? I believe even RI has their fair share too.

At the risk of incurring the wrath of many forummers 😛 , I'll say one more time that BPGHS is the best school in the west.

This year alone, they were the champion team in National Science Challenge beating RI and NUSH. Also champion in the robogladiators competition.

Check out their achievement here: Click on Science. http://www.bpghs.moe.edu.sg/sch_achieve.php

PS: I shall repeat 1 more time that my siblings and I (5 of us) are proud alumni of the school. :rahrah:
Add me to the list! I am a proud alumni of BPGHS! I miss everything about the school and I am not surprise that the school achieved its standing today. Discipline is very important in secondary school and u can be sure the students in BPGHS are well behaved! 🙂

what is wrong with the normal course. For your info, the NA and NT students from BPGHS had graduated and achieved many great things. I still remember attending an award ceremony. One of the top awards was given to a BPGHS NT student. I went up to him and told him he had made me proud to be an alumni. I heard from my friends the normal students in BPGHS were mostly well behaved and hardworking. Of course do expect a few black sheeps which u can easily find even in the express stream of a top school.

Hi, My dear son chose to join NUS High . Not sure if BPGHS offers Tamil . But came to know thro DS that his classmate who took tamil joined BPGHS in 2011 . They must be taking tamil language classes in the MOE language centre . Better get first hand information from the school itself.

                Hi Parents of BPGHS,

may I know how the teachers achieve the academic standard of the school? Is it through clever and clear teachings or plain grilling/papers and doing usually tough papers?

An alumni whose daughter (148 score) just graduated told me that the school has changed alot. It has no human touch and did not nurture her daughter.

What do you think? Is it because she is not in top class whereas normal acad will receive good attention because there are only two classes and their cut off is v high (from 193 onwards to 199).

I am thinking whether to let my son go BPGHS for normal acad

Does anyone has past year Sec 1 papers - SA1, CA2, SA2? or point to where we can get hold of them? It seems that Sec school papers are extremely hard to come by - even when they are sold - you can find only very few schools. I think it will help to use them as practice papers. Do share info on this if you have any. Tks!

                    Hi,

My daughter has successfully selected to enter BPGHS and St Margaret through DSA. I’m in dilemma as I do not know which school is best for her. Some opinions from my friends including BPGHS is a neighborhood school and should not consider even though it is a good school while St Margaret is a rich culture school and the school name looks good in the resume…Personally, I prefer St Margaret as it is all girls’ school but my daughter prefers BPGHS as it is a band 1 school.

My daughter also received CO from BPGHS. But instead of St Margaret, she received an offer from Nan hua High. Also in delimma... But if I were you, I will choose BPGHS instead of St Margaret, as BPGHS is a band 1 sch, while St Margaret is a band 4 sch. Just my personal opinion... ... 🤷 However, my DD might not accept their offers. She wants to go for the S1 posting. :stupid:

Thank you for your advice. To be honest, I never heard of BPGHS if not for my daughter’s insistence to apply to that school. Hopefully, she makes the right choice.
