          etuc:
My year 3 daughter's class will be having 4 tests (Chinese, Lang Art, SCS and Chemistry) this Friday.

Is it common in RVHS to have that many tests all in one day? Or is it due to lack of communications and co-ordination among subject teachers??
I remember there are guidelines at univ disallowing consecutive exam times, minimum break time between exams. Do I remember wrongly?
Just wonder how these students handle 4 tests in a day.
I believe the students are told weeks in advance about the test date. They can prepare in advance. Exam is different, the planning is across the level, so they won't put 2 heavy subjects in 1 day. With so many subjects and teachers, I don't think it's possible for trs to coordinate.
After all, when they step into the working world, they're also going to experience piles and piles of work coming in.

as for my gal's maths test or pop quizzes,
the shortest being 10 mins, while the norm are betw 20-30 mins long....
most of the time, there is no time to attempt the bonus question/s or
she rather use the few mins left for error checking šŸ˜‰

Is pop quizzes some kind of surprise test? I think 10 min is really v stressful, how do majority of students perform?
Ya. Better use any remaining time to check, and if there's any more time after checking, then attempt bonus qn.

yes sall, pop quizzes are \"untold\" short tests........and they're graded.
almost weekly, there bound to have, appliacable to maths and science.

but some teachers are kind enuff to drop hints of when likely will the pop quizzes or
the pupils hear fr other classes who already had it.
hence, pupils need to revise the topics constantly.

i remembered there was once with 10 short algebra questions, and they were only given 10 mins for it (yes, 1 Q 1 min šŸ˜‰ )

                  Hi Augmum,

For important subjects like Maths and Science, it's ok for trs to give many tests to reinforce their concept.
For dd's music tr, I think he's :siao: . At least 2 pieces of homework after every music lesson, music project and a written music test coming up soon.
Perhaps he thought RV is a music sch.

I guess they want to train them speed and accuracy. And nowadays, seems to have more topics about politics and current affairs. Be it for Chinese, LA and of course SS is unavoidable.

i juz ask my gal abt her music lessons.....as i din hear her talk abt or mention music lessons šŸ˜‰
she said that for music lessons, they can really relax and switch off......
as they are shown some videos, listening to talks and
playing of instruments, recent ones being the angklung.... šŸ˜„

their music lessons is only half yearly, rotating with art lessons.
