      Hi all baking experts…

My ds 1st birthday is round e corner and I want to bake him a cake. First of all, I am aliens to baking, which means that what is meant by sieve flour I dont understand. I dun hav much time to read thru this thread thoroughly so please pardon my endless questions.

So do I need to attend a bakery class?
Any easiest cake for person like me who has no knowledge abt baking?
What are e equipments tat I need?
Do I really need to buy an expensive mixer to get good result?

Will appreciate any advice from you all… Looking forward to any input. Tia!

        Hi Spring,

You don’t need to attend a class to bake a cake. If you’ve never baked before and want to make a delicious cake without all the fuss, why not try one of the cake mixes from the supermarket? Just buy a box of Betty Crocker cake mix (or any other brand). All you need to do is follow the very simple instructions which is usually just add oil, water and eggs, stir (you don’t even need a mixer to stir), pour into baking tin and bake. The final step is to add frosting and decorate to your heart’s delight.

If you want to bake from scratch, just get a recipe off the internet or buy a simple cookbook, follow the instructions and you’re off. The beginners guide to baking books would also give you instructions on what sieving, folding etc are.

        Good luck!

          Hi all,

          I’m also new at baking.
I’ve only done baking during my home eons classes in sch prior to baking 24 cupcakes with decos for my DS’s first birthday. Took the receipe off YouTube. Hehe
Did a test bake before doing the actual baking of his bday cupcakes.

Chanced upon this site while searching for Betty crocker’s cake mixes…
And all the pics really made my mouth drool and made me so hungry that I’m snacking on biscuits at midnight!

Well…For teachers’ day I’m thinking of baking some cupcakes or cookies for my
DS’s teachers and also baking some cupcakes for my younger DS’s first bday in Oct.

Hope to learn from the experts bakers here!:)

You can try getting the pink biscuits from Candy Empire. Can't remember the brand but there's an aussie wafer biscuit that's pink with fairies on its packaging.
