"Huan Song" as in "Huan Le" & "Song" as in send off? I think most kids won’t know the meaning unless they are exposed to higher level of mandarin.

Yep, first day's chinese oral was so simple compared to the second day's. A lot of the kids forgot what 'balloon' was called in Chinese. 😄 I had a had time remembering too.

Hi, We seek parents whose child attended the PSLE Oral test to share any concern on the topic of the oral, "huan song wang lao shi".

This oral standard is higher than the first day’s. Besides, the picture is not clear, and the word, "Huan song" is higher standard of chinese, and not many students are aware of that.

This second day chinese oral test will affect the student PSLE result badly as compared with the first day’s.

Kindly share your thought and we do hope that MOE can look into that.

          Thanks.

"huan song" you mean 欢送? I thought that is P1/P2 Chinese?

I think P1/P2 can read the words but most students (even at higher levels) probably don't know what it means. I can't blame them since as an adult, I've hardly come across it in use too.

Should we consider writing in to MOE to express our concern over the discrepancy in standards between the first and second day’s Chinese oral?

I do agree that there is a different in standard for the first and second day’s Chinese oral exam. BUT I still think that a P6 student should know the meaning of 欢送.

I believed the MOE already knew about the matter. It was reported on Monday chinese evening newspaper.

Sorry, I do not have the link. It is a simple report that parents are concerned about the chinese oral exam. The reporter already called up MOE to let them know about the issue. Of course, MOE has no reply on this matter yet. But they are aware of this by now.
