:goodpost: :goodpost:Dear mummies and daddies, pls do not be too disappointed if you were balloted out....Its not the end of the world and believe me, your 2nd choice may be a better school for your children.
Let me share with you my agony....All along, my only girl wanted an all girl's school but she only highlighted to me when I was half way doing PV for a popular school in the EAST (co-ed)...I explained to my dearest girl that mummy had started PV work and already clocked 50 hours plus so must continue and try as its a popular school....Of course, every parents wanted the best for their kids!
I continue my weekly PV duties and clocked 150 hrs by the time we were due for Phase 2B balloting...Unfortunately, we were balloted out and I was so down and upset over the whole incident....Initially was only shock and after that was the disappointment and heartache....It took me almost a week to recover... It was the worst experience in my life...never before did I ever feel so depressed....
When I broke the news to my DD after she got back from school, she was happy since she knows she can now go to a girls' school (our 2nd choice)...My hard work and effort had gone into the drain but my DD was happy....Seeing me so depressed, she even tried many ways to cheer me up and comforted me she will study hard and goes to a top girls' school....She even told me she just loves to go to a girl's school and will still choose a girls' school when she goes to secondary...My mood lifted up after seeing how this little girl is so sensible and sweet...
So when its time for Phase 2C registration, I do not want to try any balloting again even when Red Swatika & Fengshan was within 1km.....As such, we registered her into a neighbourhood girls school and got in without any hassle of going thru balloting.
Sometimes, I believe its fated....If I had listened to my girl and gave up my PV earlier, I will not need to go through such a hard time....Hub consoled me its Gods' will and also DD's strong will to get into a girls' school....So just accept it...
I still believe that as long as the little ones has our support and guidance in their education/learning journey, they can still excel no matter which school they go to... Parental support is very important....
For those who were balloted out in 2C, my best wishes to you in your choice of school in 2CS..
Cheer up and enjoy a good weekend....I know its easier said than done but u just need to pull through....Do not think about the past....look forward to the bright future....
Note: I wanted to share my experience after being unsuccessful in Phase 2B...But at that time, I was still feeling down and so could not write about it... -

go on waitlistThank you all for your encouragement. Lucky also got my hubby and friends to cheer me up. So all is not gone yet. Just hope for the best next week. Plan A fails, go with Plan B. If Plan B fails also, then Plan C, lor
Six years of pri edu is a long way to go. Must make a wise choice. Though I know my 1st choice was my wise choice for my kid, the odds were extremely great. Gosh, now thinking back on why I took that road down, I am amazed myself. Nobody to blame but it's really all boils down to luck when one decided to gamble and forge ahead with balloting.
I would still hope to get my kid back to 1st choice if given a chance. Perhaps just go on waitlist and see how. If still no luck, then the higher being is telling me a no means no
work hard and get a GEP seat and you can opt in again -

RRMummy:
Hi jeanieg
Sorry to her your upset in the balloting jeanieg. :snuggles:jeanieg:
We are unsuccessful for chij olqp too. My girl was no 15 and nos 14 and 16 were called! Never felt so unlucky in my life! Was so sad really wanna cry! Now gotta get myself together and get ready for 2c.
I just regretted didnt pv for chij. Didnt plan this whole thing properly! So guess itis my own doing.
Now gotta study the other available school stats and decide on the next step. Most likely going for bukit timah pri but am kinda worried cos am sure many who were not successful will also go for it. Dont think wanna go for balloting again! Too scary!
Please don't bash yourself up. What is over and done is the past. After you have given yourself sometime to recover, do forge ahead. When a door closes, a window opens...
Yes, every year Bukit Timah Primary will have many aiming it for Phase 2Csupp.
Just for your reference, below are the number for 2010 end Phase 2Csupp
http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=424&start=900
and this years. http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies/index.php#bukit-timah
Except for HPPS.. the number are actually rather close. In fact, the over-supscription in RGS and was higher then. so maybe it is still rather safe but I would definitely advice to have a backup just in case..
Good luck! :xedfingers:
Did a rough calculations for the area.
Pardon if the actual numbers is abit out from my rough as I used the TUR till 2B to calculate the left over for 2C, and using the APP at 2C to get the total vacancies versus total applicants.
For last year, the number is total vacancies of 252 as compared to 359 applicants. Spill over is 107
For this year, the number is total vacancies of 172 compared to 262 applicants. Spill over is 90.
TUR for BKPS is 53% till 2C, so still within the threshold.
The statstics compound here can be very powerful. All the best. -

Yup, there is the waitlist and like vk2010 said, there is also the GEP route.. but maybe before that your child is doing so well in the new school and you have changed your mind..
Don't be sad dear.. I'm sure all will turn out fine in the end... :snuggles:
