      Hi Augmum,

For important subjects like Maths and Science, it's ok for trs to give many tests to reinforce their concept.
For dd's music tr, I think he's :siao: . At least 2 pieces of homework after every music lesson, music project and a written music test coming up soon.
Perhaps he thought RV is a music sch.
      hi sall,
      oh......there are HW for music....ic...

i juz ask my gal abt her music lessons.....as i din hear her talk abt or mention music lessons ๐Ÿ˜‰
she said that for music lessons, they can really relax and switch off......
as they are shown some videos, listening to talks and
playing of instruments, recent ones being the angklung.... ๐Ÿ˜„

their music lessons is only half yearly, rotating with art lessons.

Ya. That should be the way music is taught, relax and enjoy the lesson, not about giving them so much facts, with hw, project, test. Now , all her classmates HATE music lessons.
For the lst half of the yr, they did art. It was so much better compared to music.

and not to burden the pupils with HW and tests.....
these pupils have enuff stress .....give them some time to relax ๐Ÿ˜„

so RV same as DHS, having Art for 1 st half of the yr .

Was told by dd that they were told that by end of the year, every students will be issued with an i-pad free. They have to return at the end of year 6. She said they double check with the teacher and the teacher said itโ€™s true.

            I jokingly asked her i-pad or eye-padโ€ฆ

Not much info at this moment, dd just heard from teacher. Not sure where the money comes from but this is easily a 7 digits project.
Many schools are now using tablet as a teaching media. Like tablet (and much cheaper), using i-pad may aid in field teaching and can doing on-line assessment in the classroom. The student can also do some research in the classroom instantly... the list goes on. Using high tech gadet for teaching can also arouse the students interest.
The school can always work with the supplier to develop some apps to suit their teaching. In fact, many countries have already started exploring on using i-pad for education.

Im not sure about the ipad project. Maybe its cos that im the parent of a senior high student in rv and i have no idea bout it . But if there's really such project, the older students would definitely feel unfair to them since they dont get any ๐Ÿ˜„

Dd say never heard of such news. Is it only for junior high or all levels? Then how to ensure no abuse of ipad in terms of playing games or fb during lessons?

Maybe this is one reason to go independent? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Well, everything is uncertain at this moment. We just hear say and thus come to this forum to see if others also know about this. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Oh, and in addition, the school has just subsidized quite a number of students for aylc. so, doubt the project will happen soon if there's such thing. ๐Ÿ˜„
