      And the story continues...

As the dust of the P1 registration settles down, all the Happy Mama start to prep their children for the new school life next year, and heeding advice from seasoned parents. Eg - P1 is beyond learning about alphabets & numbers eg XYZ1 ; how to think out of the notabox, how not to be trapwithin the limits of this education system, how to score high mark and not get markfch by the teachers, and not forgetting that besides studies, there's still loads of Funx3 not to be missed.
Oh man! This is so good. Reading it brings a big smile on my face ๐Ÿ˜›

      Sista Funx3, you're right. I've met my match .......... ๐Ÿ˜‚

          Scary:

Ok Ok, serious talk. Anyone has good Science enrichment to recommend? DS is crazy over the Science enrichment conducted in school. I don't want him to stop since he has the interest. However, the enrichment teacher does not conduct any classes for primary schools' kids.
oopss...sorry I missed this part until now. Mine loves Science. She went to Science Hub (Bt Batok) twice during school holidays but she did not like it very much (opinions/reviews differ from one to another - some even rave about this centre). You may want to check it out.

To us, the most important part is to provide the children with continuous exposure to Science knowledge.

          1. Young Scientists - Her favourite magazines since K2/P1. I collect this series either new from popular or from 2nd hand book stands.

          2. Library visits - For a start, we set a particular topic per week and went on reading information books on that topics and discuss about it. I did not base on the school syllabus, we went on base on current interest at that time, so that we were motivated to search for more.

          3. I had 2 sets of science guide books (lower block) at home since P2 for her to read with leisure for a start before starting with formal reading & doing worksheets. At P3, she started with some higher block books.

Once a child is self-motivated and mastered the basic method of reading systematically , he/she can slowly move on free gear with little supervision. Mine is also constantly apply her Science knowledge to daily activities. ๐Ÿ˜‰ With such escalating interest and exposure, so far she is doing alright in school w/o attending any Science enrichment class. ๐Ÿ˜‰ HTH!

This is a short story about a PH mum.

On Fri 5th of Aug, there was a cheerie and willowy mummy called lims who went for P2C balloting. Taz was a very scary experience but fortunately with joyfulhands, the vice-principal picked her kid's name from the ballot box for the last available vacancy.

            And the story continues...

As the dust of the P1 registration settles down, all the Happy Mama start to prep their children for the new school life next year, and heeding advice from seasoned parents. OMG...the some parents of PH are such a creative lot :salute: :lovesite:
Really enjoyable reading this...reminds me of a son which ๅ‘จๅŽๅฅ composed.

To add for Science (for Scary)

I re-read my msg, I am adding this so that you will not get this mis-perception that mine learn school Science w/o much of my involvement. On the contrary, since P2 till 1st term this year (P4), I spent time sitting down with her very regularly to guide her on using the guidebooks and tactics of answering questions. In fact, I also learn along this journey. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Mine is DD. But wait... the focus will be on her studies so all that boyfriend/girlfriend thingy can wait for the time being.. Hee, mine is a girl, so must be more protective of her.

Haha. . you don't have to worry. My focus will be on my DS's studies too. My main aim is to find kids in the same class so that they can be my spies! Haha. . .Just like I have spies in his kindergarten now. Best to know the parents so that we can exchange info. Kids at this age have short attention span. May miss or forget the information that the teachers want them to relate to us.
