All the way to the peak. So skipped the tram.
Reach the peak or the tram station and take the tram up to the peak?MMM:
We took the bus up from somewhere near the hong kong island ferry terminal but it was a long journey and rather crowded. Think it took us
an hour to reach the peak.
I'm also thinking maybe skip the peak and go and take the ferry boat right in the night to view the night scenary.. http://www.starferry.com.hk -
Verykiasu2010,
Thanks for your recommendation. I've made tentative bookings at the YMCA Salisbury for my Dec trip. Talk about being \"kiasu\" They allow free cancellation of bookings up to 3 days before check in. BTW, the airport shuttle is no longer complimentary, but at a price.
Is it advisable to take the MTR to/from Airport to/from YMCA, or should I take the shuttle bus?
MMM,
Thanks for your clever suggestion of visiting the peak in the evening, so as to take in both the day and night view. Will do just that. Hopefully the weather is good during our short stay in HK.
On air-ticket
Looks like I'll have to travel with Jetstar as most promo price does not apply during our school hols period. I have not tried budget carrier before, but have heard plenty of negative comments regarding last minute cancellations.
Anyone with advice/comments regarding Jetstar? -

personally i prefer the airport express train from hkia to kowloon, followed by their free shuttle bus to take you to hotel. train fare is HK$80 one way to kowloon, HK$100 one way to HK station.
the nearest mtr station to hkia is tsing yi, not in airport -
i was told by a fren who went HK in June that if we bring pram, it’ll be very hard to move about , esp in MTR, and bus… any of u bringing pram? if never bring pram will be too tiring wor

Thanks. I've just had a look at the MTR system map again after your post. My mistake, I was under the impression that the MTR goes all the way to the HKIA. Although we will be travelling light, I don't think I want to lug my stuff up n down the subway/train/bus. Somemore, its our first time in HK, and we don't speak cantonese. :faint: Will likely opt for the direct airport shuttle straight to hotel.

Question: I've booked the cheapest double room. Not expecting harbour view or anything fanciful, but can I expect a decent and clean room? Is it true that the hotel was refurbished recently?
Sorry for the many questions. TIA -

Yes... Umbrella stroller is handy when it comes to travelling. Been to hkg twice with two young kids. Both DH and I carried an umbrella stroller each (can easily carry across the shoulder). It's lot lighter and can get cheap ones and oso easy to maneuver

mico,
I will be using my BECO carrier to HKG of my 4yo DD. For my 18mths DS, i am loaning from my fren ERGO carrier. I used the BECO carrier on mt DD when we were at JPN last year.. I don't like to bring scroller around as it will be bulky and as mentioned by you, scare hard to move about.. moreover HKG is full of ppl..
I will be using the carrier for my DD when she is sleepy and tired. Most of the time of coz would want her to walk by herself. -
carrier ?? ur back will be suffering wor…

what we did was plan for afternoon coffee break and allow DS to catch his nap while we sip coffee in a nice cafe
