Called the school today.
They posted letter on Friday.
I did not check letter box cos i tot only today get result.
Have to wait till i get home today to check.

My son placed on waiting list. Sigh.
I don't think they outright reject students.
Probably placed all those who are not accepted in the waiting list.
Have to wait until 26 oct when he has to indicate his choice again.
Probably a blessing in disguise, otherwise he may be too contented and not try his best in the PSLE.

I'm sure you've done yr best to lift his morale. This waitlist/rejection thingy is quite damaging to some kids. Some can be non-chalant about it while others can spend days moping around. But eventually most kids will want to prove to the school that waitlisted them that they're worthy of the school by putting in their best.

Despite being a P6 boy, I'm sure he looks forward to a comforting and reassuring hug from both his parents.

All the best to him in his psle. Tell him to lift his head up and look forward. He can do it!

My son does not seem affected at all.
In fact it is his parents who are disappointed.
He has always been a positive boy since young, only looking at his achievements and not his weakness, which to some extend impedes his progress in his weaker subjects, namely languages.
Probably because it is ingrained in him that academic success does not necessarily equal financial success.

Don’t be disappointed Carebear. Being on waitlist means that your son will be considered when there’s withdrawal. As far as I know, quite a no. of kids have been offered at least 2 schs. So chances is that some the ones selected of SST would opt for another sch.


Meanwhile, encourage your son to study hard for PSLE. If he does well, all doors will be opened to him. of course if you think SST is the choice, then he should get in without much difficulty.

I am sailing in the same boat as carebear - my son's on SST's waiting list. I felt really bad as I was quite confident he had done well. But then, this is beyond our control, we are not sure what's the criteria the schools use to selecr. Especially for SST as they are looking for applied learning - which is very hard to judge. We have decided it may be a blessing in diguise and not to talk abt this until after PSLE. Heard that 50% of the waiting lists are usually successful and it may be even more for SST, being a new schl. So don't loose heart carebear. We shall think if we shld fill the options form with SSt as choice or not, after PSLE :celebrate: ...

So dont worry carebear - wish our kids the VERY best for PSLE. I am sure with encouragement and hard work, they will do even better and get into their dream schools. Cheer up !!!!
