IMHO, NUSH is in about the same league as ACSI, RI and HCI in terms of academic performance and the quality of PSLE intake. SST is no where near this league. People will choose between HCI and NUSH, or RI and NUSH, but you don't hear of people choosing between HCI and SST, RI and SST.still confused over NUSH and SST ... SST part not very clear.

SST is certainly not focussing on Math. Besides, you hardly see any participation or winners from SST in the national-level Math & Science olympiads (not to mention the International Math & Science olympiads such as IPhO and IMO - where typically, the 4 schools in the league I mentioned above have shined).after all, both also focus on Maths and Science. It's just different approach in learning.

1st of all, we shd avoid comparing the academic achievements or performance of the IP schools HERE. It OK to query on the curriculum, school policies, facilities etc…
The main diff betweem NUSH and SST is that one ends up with a NUS Dip while the other will finish off with ‘O’ level. What is beyond that depends on the student himself. NUS is just one of the choices for NUSH, but from what I heard, most students r looking beyond our shores.
As for SST, think their pioneer batch is just Sec2 this yr. Although it may be under NP, I’m sure the students are not restricted to the poly/dip route. However, that being said, I’m sure most will agree that it will be interesting to see how the JCs view the relevance or weightage of their (applied) subjects vs the typical ‘O’ subjects this a couple of yrs’ time. -

Forget about the diploma etc. I understand that you are wondering where the difference in the 2 schools lie since they are sort of focused on more technical subjects. wonder if half way through got students:-
- transfer out of NUSH go into SST, and
- vice versa, transfer out of SST go to NUSH.
after all, both also focus on Maths and Science. It's just different approach in learning.
NUSH wants to groom the very best of maths and science students to emerge as leaders in their scientific fields. That may be through research, academia, engineering innovations etc. The school is modeled after the Bronx School of Science in New York which produced numerous Nobel laureates.
SST, on the other hand, seeks to teach \"applied technology\". Your child may end up with or without a degree. But his training will gear him towards using technological skills and tools to solve problems. So despite studying maths and science, he or she is not likely to become a mathematician or a nuclear scientist or a cancer researcher. However, the SST grounding will be perfect for application engineers and a host of other jobs that requires systematic thinking and logic.
I frankly think transfers either way between NUSH and SST are rare. -
Applied engineering is still built onto on core science foundation. I am not totally convinced that the kid is ready so early into applied science without strong fundamentals of core science.

Guess that's why the DSA process is very impt (esp the camp) for the schools to identify students with the right aptitude. -
at NUSH - what’re some CCAs offered for girls ?
can they do ballet, take Music elective(s) ? -
What do you mean by ‘CCAs offered for girls’? Girls, boys, and people of non-binary genders can all join the dance club, the western orchestra, the Chinese orchestra, the gamelan ensemble, the choir, &c., as well as take music classes whether as electives or part of a diploma major. The only CCA open only to girls is Girls’ Soccer, much as one of the CCAs open only to boys is Boys’ Soccer.
