I didn’t have problem when I tried to contact them. I sent them email to check on the class schedule and available vacancy. They replied within 1 or 2 days. I later went down to the AMK branch to talk to them and eventually arranged for the entry assessment for my gal. As there is still vacancy available (last one!), I manage to put my gal in the class ( my preferred timing).


Those interested can perhaps try to email them. Coz I think they respond to email faster compared to phone as sometime there seem to be nobody picking up the call.

Is The Alternative Story = TAS? They are the ones who wrote a creative writing book that is black in colour? I have been looking for a way to contact them. Does anyone know what is their number? I saw their creative writing book from an ex colleague who recommended it. Found it very useful. Now I cannot contact my ex colleague. Would very much appreciate any help.

TLL \"screen\" the Parent's background??? dont think so... they did offer my girl a place but i dont remember we were screened! I turned down their offer and enrolled my girl with TAS. Reason: Fees & Venue. :siam:

hmm, teacher's comments during mid year was that my P1 son writes very little lines and he should add more lines. So for his holiday project to write journal, I sat down with him and told him to remember his stuff from TAS. Ended up with a 3-4 page (exercise book) write up on his holiday. I seriously don't think she'll dare tell me he writes very little now.

I would say that learning those phases sure help. at least now, hot day, rainy day, he'll know what he can use.

My kid that is in tas is in Pri3 and I see that her work for tas she can write well but the tas teacher also told me that it does not mean that she can write this well in school because the topics may be different and it takes a while for them to catch the techniques of writing and learn enough phrases to know how to apply. After a while, I start to see that my girl is able to apply the phrases here and there but her compo in school was still so-so. But now especially since the writing she does in tas is no more memorisation but application, I can see that she can use the same techniques of ‘show’ not ‘tell’ and make her stories more interesting and ‘alive’. Happy to see that her writing is no longer dead and flat and her school teacher commented that she has seen improvement in my girl’s writing.

For younger kids (P1-3 or even P4), I find that parents need to guide more.

My younger kid did not really know how to apply some of the things she learnt
at TAS. Especially when some of her compos in school were describing type- describe
a party you went to, describe a trip to the zoo etc. In TAS, the compos were more
based on a problem- which I find as the kids move to P3-4, they will do more of these
types in school. so I had to help her see the link. But for my older boy, he could take
off and fly after a few sessions, he became one of the best writers in his class after a
short while in TAS. It was not that he was smarter but he was older and could see
the link on his own more easily. So guidance at home is important esp if your child
is younger.
