During the Youth Day weekend, I drove to Lotus Desaru. Got the \"early bird\" promotion for RM150 (one bedroom suite) through their website. Checked it again and can't find the promotion anymore. http://lotusdesaru.com/room-promotion
I would say it is ok for a one night stay. My DS enjoyed the small water theme park. I would say it is so-so. Frankly cannot compare to the newer Singapore swimming complex like Jurong West or Chua Chu Kang or Sengkang. But their \"coconut fall\" is really quite powerful..
The drive to Desaru is quite smooth by the new Senai-Desaru expressway E22. The new bridge across Sungai Johore is quite nice. From Tuas, it took us about 1 and a half hour to reach Desaru. -
Lotus Desaru is the best place to visit. I had travel Lotus Desaru. This is the amazing place to travel and There are number of places to travel in Lotus Desaru. I really like that place.

Now no more those rides you mentioned liao, only a small water theme park there.QuiteKSMum:
We went to this resort more than 10 yrs ago! It was previously known as Desaru Impian & even had a theme park with merry go round, ferris wheel, spinning tea cups etc , on top of the water theme park.
Son was too young then to really enjoy the rides ( btw, FOC), but the other older kids had a thoroughly fun time!
Rem we drove in - but via the ferry wh we boarded at Tanah Marah Ferry Terminal ... another diff experience for the kids.
Oh dear I didnt know the old desaru impian is now lotus desaru??? I used to work for desaru impian !!! Memories.......
I used to tell my hb wondering what happened to Desaru Impian when they closed down and some of my ex-colleagues said the resort was kept empty for years. Didnt know it was sold to another party...
I went to the website briefly to check and to refresh my memories and yes it seems they are not the same anymore.
I believe the ferry that goes to desaru also closed down?? I still can remember there were occassions we drove in via the ferry route. It was indeed a different experience !! -
I was at Lotus Desaru in July this year. I noticed a part of it near the clubhouse was boarded up and run down. I suppose that used to be the ammusement part then… The highlight was the water playground. But the problem is that they need to improve on the bathing facilities there. Have to walk back to our rooms to have bath instead.

My family drove up to Desaru last weekend. The drive there was smooth. There were no traffic jams at the Woodlands causeway. We had breakfast in JB, then drove by the E22 to Desaru. Look out for the entrance to the Ulu Tiram toll booth 3-5 min after Tesco/ Jusco shopping centres. Then is about 30 min fr there to Desaru.
We stayed at Lotus. We got the Rm 150 per nite deal too. Lotus is OK. Its not like S’pore 5 star standard. The rooms were a little musty, cupboards musty, toilets sandy … but the bed and bedding didn’t smell of its previous occupant, and general cleanliness OK, but don’t look under the beds or shift the sofas. And its got a lovely large field next to the beach and a nice little Italian cafe just by the beach. So the kids could run and play the field while the adults could watch them and have a drink at the cafe.
There’s 3 restaurants there - the Italian one, an International Buffet, and a Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor of the club house. I you can order A la Cart fr the International Buffet at the Chinese and Italian restaurants, but only if the waiters agree to bring you the food. The International Restaurant didn’t want to serve a la cart at meal times - only the buffet was available. Otherwise there’s another 2 hotels just a 10 - 20 min walk along the beach.
We had a lovely time there - just chilling and enjoying the beach. We even caught a couple of small crabs, which we then released back into the sea. There’s fewer sea shells compared to a few years ago. We collected them for our sand castles then let the sea wash them away too. We also got to try Go cart - Rm 30 per car for 15 min. There’s also an eating place at the Go Cart tract.
No posh 5 star hotel this, but a reasonably priced "family" getaway with reasonably maitained facilities.
