      Penghu:
Mrs skipp seems to be going into retirement. The teacher teaching pre pri and pri classes is Ms Tan but I am not sure what her full name is. mrs skipp is around to sometimes help, chit chat with parents. Everyone seems to know her. They aren't really pushy and encourages you to even attend a few times until u or ur child is comfortable before signing up.

I am still observing how the class routine goes. They seem to do warm up but I thought lacking in stretching.... As in those where u open your legs real wide and stretch. So far, only saw 1 out of 4 classes. The funny thing is u can hear all the \"ouches\" from majority of the kids.haha!

Any idea how a typically class routine for pre pri is like?

Ms Tan is really dedicated. Notice her every moves in class is all ballet styles. There was a class where she was doing the skips and 'bicycle' ride with them. The amount of sweat on her back is more than all kids combined !!
thanks for yr added info....so Ms Tan is the new teacher-in-charge...( never meet her b4...)

Hi phtthp! Yeah! Was really glad I finally settled down and the timing of the current class fits perfectually into our routine. Can’t wait to see DD be able to dance on her own. Sometimes we even stayed halfway thr the next class watching the gals while waiting for daddy to fetch!

That sounds so fun. I wonder if they'll be dressed up as Alice, the white rabbit, the queen, the mad hatter...

mummy, i got a question to ask… i always see those children whol learn ballet (in primary level) are slender and looks very graceful… will the ballet teacher tell their student to always keep lean? as for pre-primary classes, there are still chubby chubby kids…

Hmm... I'd like to think that it's a steretype that those who do ballet must be slim. I do believe that with determination, people with any body shape or size (as long as they're physically fit) can do ballet (as I have seen in adult ballet classes and even in some graded ballet classes with teenage girls).

Of course, back to the \"phenomenon\" of dance students often being slim, I think it's also partly to do with the fact that they're keeping fit by dancing regularly. Dancing is a pretty physically demanding sport, if you will. 😄

Just my humble two cents' worth.

serenipity, yes i understand. DH and i worries if being "slim" is a requirement for ballet … which at this age is not that "healthy"…so i jst want to know if there are teacher who will set this requirement… and agree that with regular dancing they will tend to stay slim/fit…but if once a week, it wont make much difference i guess…

for grading , then they will do twice a week if not mistaken ?
