There is one thing I'd like to know though. Do GEP students fair badly in PSLE? What is the avg T Score of a GEP class?
Maybe some parents of Gep students who have already finished PSLE can throw some light on it? This can help ease a lot of anxiety of those parents who do not yet have a CO.

      Tisha,

like Nebbermind said, it's not that they do badly, but high expectations from them, so some buckle under pressure, I guess. This is normal everywhere.

Indicatively, my DS batch from his school last year had about 49 GEPpers.
      Group A - 270 and above - 12 students from GEP ( 1 from mainstream )
      Group B - 260 and above - btw 30 to 35 ?
      Group C - 259 or below - about 3 from GEP
( lowest was about 247 or 250, cant remember )

But some take their foot off the pedal after CO from their dream school, so cannot say for sure. But last year, those from GEP in DS batch were all excellent students, good attitude, diligent, hardworking, cooperative, etc. So he was fortunate that he had good peer pressure, because he is the lazy type ( who studies for his exams 4-5 days before the paper ).
Good luck to all taking PSLE this year.

      Thanks Strparent.
From your post we can see that most do very well. So parents need to believe in their children and positively encourage them. The GEP kids don't seem to be having a easy time at school, what with their buddies flaunting 2/3 COs.
So it is now really upto the parents to be supportive without putting undue pressure. Time for some tender loving care.
Good Luck to all Kiddos for the PSLE 2011.

        as for those who think 4 A* will reap you 260, it is not necessarily true. I have seen a student get 4 A* ( maybe 4 low A* ) and his Tscore was around 244, and another student 3 A* with 1 A, with a Tscore of 262 ( 3 high A* and 1 high A ).

        Hi Strparent,

I too know of a student who had 3A* and 1A who scored high 260. And another who had 4A* and scored 249. It all depends on whether they had high or low A* and A.

Lowest marks for A* is 91/100 so a person who gets 4 A*s can't be scoring t-score 244 only. However, it is possible for a person who gets 4 low A*s to have a lower t-score than someone who gets 3 high A*s & 1 high A.

That's rather low. Is this based on hearsay or confirmed?

Shd be accurate. but probably not many scoring lower than 250.

but that low tscore shd not be surprising as there will always be GEP students who donch do well in the languages.

It really depends on the distribution of the score for that yr. Think the sample calculation on the earlier page showed some possibility.

The boy who scored 249 with 4A* was my god-son's classmate. He sighted the result slip with his own eyes. As for whether you can score 244 with 4A*, I have no personal experience.

Yes, very very few score below 250. It's CL that pulls some of the kids down, because it's not in the selection process.

Well, guess it's more diificult to estimate than expected.

Am I right to say that this is mainly for those students who are accpected CO from other school and obtian PSLE T-Socre above the COP and want to appeal to RI/HCI? That mean the students do not have any S1 Posting Form, so that they have to go through such \"appeal\" process to have a 2nd chance to get admitted to RI/HCI?

                      THank you ocne again.
In this case, I would think it may be better for mainstreamers ,who have good school result, not to try DSA to RI / RGS if they do not have very outstanding proven talent. For HCI/ NYGH I don't think they use such process. imagine when your T-score hit above COP and you still need to go thru GAT....

Which year did they happen? May be when the highest PSLE score that year was less than 269? I have a niece who scored 266 with only 3A* & 1A, I think the highest that year was 28x.
