Hi Scary, isn't NJC the oldest JC in Singapore? So you very old ah? :rotflmao: :siam: Just kidding!

Like your dh, my sec and tertiary school is far from home and I really dragged it then. Thus vow not to let my sons go through the same.

Our era didn't have ACSI, NUSH, NJC. Only RI, Chinese High and SJI. SJI not so good at that time. Chinese High too chi-na, not my DH's cup of tea.

For RI now, the travelling time from Toh Yi is almost the same as going to SJI, ACSI and NUSH in my opinion. All need to do a bus transfer. Keke. . if my DS can qualify for RI which I am dreaming :snooze: , I will not put him in other schools unless he strongly disagrees or the cultures, etc change.

Hi Scary, isn't NJC the oldest JC in Singapore? So you very old ah? :rotflmao: :siam: Just kidding!
Haha.. . you didn't get my point. I was talking about Sec schools. Our times did not have IP, IB, etc. I was using Chinese High instead of HC. Sec was called Chinese High last time and JC was HCJC. NJC did not have sec at that time. πŸ˜‚
Oh I see. NJC threw me off because I assumed you were talking about JCs. πŸ˜‚

Did you have to go thru' the exciting balloting process (like I did)? Yes, cos me stay > 2km πŸ™‚ Thanks God my ger managed to enter PH. But 1 of my fren's ds failed to get in (2B), felt sad to her 😞

              notabox:

Just wondering, is distance no longer a consideration when choosing Sec sch? Since most here stayed near PH, isn't RI a bit far for your kids?

Where can I find listing of Sec schools by area?

I think RI is not that far compared to some good schools in the east for those staying near PH. Bus service 52 in front of PH goes all the way to Bishan, though I think need to change near MacRitchie for RI. It's pretty fast as it uses PIE. My DH stayed in Bukit Batok previously went to a school in the east. I always told him he was silly to choose a school so far.

The other alternative is to take 157, much quicker.

Ds leaves home about 6:15, takes a bus from Upp Bukit Timah then catch 157. Usually reaches RI b4 7am. Heard it jams up pretty bad at Dunearn Road to HCI. I think though Bishan sounds far, there is not much difference travelling to HCI or RI.

Yes, I and my wife are there to witness the balloting, ya it is really stiff. Heavy raining after the balloting end and the school helper made INITIATIVE lend me the umbrella for me to collect my car at the car park, so touching. From here I may felt that this school is a \"ε……ζ»‘ηˆ±εΏƒηš„ε¦ζ ‘\". Again,Thanks God my dd can get in such beautiful school.

Wow, your ds is in RI. Did he get in by the sec 1 posting excercise or DSA? So smart.

Hmm...any \"recipe\" like Funx3 to share? You know, I have all boys...a recipe to RI than a recipe to RGS will work better for me πŸ˜‰

But still want the transformation recipe nonetheless! waiting patiently for pm... πŸ‘…

Our approach is different from Funx3. Her daughter is conscientious and smart and hence she can take it easy :imcool: . It was different for my boys. They did not \"wakeup\" until late P5 or even P6. No talent and hence no DSA. Just sheer hard work for the boys and :rahrah: and :hugs: and :spank: from the parents πŸ˜„ .

For those kids still in lower pri, by 2015 the new MRT line will be ready.

So it won't matter so much the jams along BT road.

It's only exciting retrospectively; and the outcome must be successful.

If it's not, don't think you'll consider it exciting at all. :gloomy:

The heavens made sure our spouses are the polar opposite of us for a reason, which is to allow our kids some breathing space. Not saying that you're as kiasu as me. Of course I admit I'm more kiasu than you lah.

                        Bocmark,
Yes, is not that time consuming actually to travel to Bishan from our place. I prefer svc 52 as it's really fast unless there's a jam along PIE. I am crazy at times to take it to Shunfu to buy my favourite muffins.

I also :rahrah: and :hugs: and :spank: my DS. I hope he will \"wake up\" in P5 or earlier. Some boys never \"wake up\" even when they are a grown up. Unsure if your know what I mean, but I sincerely hope my DS will not be like this.
