Comparing Pre-school English Reading and Phonics Enrichment
-
Phonics is supposed to help with both pronunciation and spelling, as the idea is to teach the sounds of each alphabet and what happens when they're being put together and the sounds blend together. Supposed to be a lot more effective than simply memorising the spelling like during our time. My sis told me her son (who's going to P6 next year) hardly needs to spend time preparing for his spelling tests thanks to the phonics lessons he went to when he was a toddler.
As for which program is more effective, I think it depends more on which one your child enjoys more?

Thanks all for your kind input. Will try to check out further. In the meantime, more input and feedback is appreciated. Thank you!
poppy15, how do you find the management and teachers there and which part of Yishun is that? I read in some other posts and seems like the management not so good, not sure about the lessons though. I personally called them up quite some time ago and could not reach them. They only got back to me after several missed calls to them over days.

mine is at blk 927, Yishun Central... i called them up only once & they arranged for me to bring DS for a free assessment...
the teacher is Ms Yvonne Seah... i find her very patient & caring... she gives feedbacks to parents on & off... and she always assures parents or give advice..
i too read abt this Read In A Week thingy...abt the negative feedbacks... but if u dun try, u nvr know...

Is your child there? Not sure if there is any in Yishun, but mind sharing your experience and how are the teachers and fee like? TIA. -
My boy did I-creative when he was 3. He already can read well when he was five. I find the teaching is interesting and fun. He enjoyed going to class every week. He was taught by teacher Ivy from Cantonment.
