Write a \"love letter\" to the teacher in charge of student welfare. Off hand I cant recall the email of this teacher. Think last year I wrote to her regarding safety on sch buses. Within the same week, she called me back.drickymummy:

[/quote]Yes, I think should raise this up. Kids learn best and fast from their peers. My boy didn't speak with all the lah, mah, etc last time. When he was in K1, he sat beside a boy who used a lot of these. His speech changed overnight. Till now, it's still the same and I am following his path.
Possible to have a teacher station in the canteen during break time? Not only for this purpose, but also for any emergency. -
Scary:
Sorry I disagree. I feel that teachers are precious resources that are best used in the most value-added activities. Anyway by putting one teacher in the canteen, he not going to be able to 'vet' all the conversations that are happening at the same time.

I think it is inevitable that our kids learn from others, both the good and the bad. We have to face the reality that every sch has its bad eggs. Yes, even in PH, though from what I observed the standard generally is good.
Imho, the best way to deal with this is to teach our kids what is right and what is wrong, and not to try to totally shield them from darker influences. That's just not possible. Vulgarities can be uttered in the canteen, in the field, in the toilets, on buses etc. If a child is mature enough to know what's acceptable and what's not, he will be less likely to be affected by negative influences. I think that's what we should aim for.
The one thing I always tell ds is never to indulge in LAN game activities in those ctrs. Seems to me that those places are magnets for delinquents. -
Hi Parents,
I visited my son at the camp site last night.
The so-called qualified instructors were chanting and singing stupid stuff the whole night :siao: and their broken English made my hair stand on ends.. BTW, the theme for the night was 'Hari Raya' :scratchhead:
Since we were invited to visit our children, I expected some contact time with them...but it was not to be  we were there to sit/stand on benches to see a pathetic camp fire and transported to a scene in the Night Safari, or perhaps watching Alex the lion or Gloria the hippo doing a 'I like to move it move it', remember Madagascar ???
The organizer did not allow the children to talk to the parents. What is this ? Even prisoners are allowed to see their loved ones, right ???
Sorry for all the ranting...I'm so upset and couldn't sleep the whole night. -
Sorry forgot to add this.
My son sneaked out to talk to usβ¦he was homesick like many others who were crying but managed to hold back his tears. I had to distance myself away from him so that I wonβt cry. ηε―ζ.
I hope the school does something about this sad experience. -

Not true lah.
There are players in reputable sec sch uniforms in the LAN centre at BTSC. But how good is their studies I dunno lah.
Recently I boarded a taxi and the taxi driver told me he has a sec 2 boy in RI. From the way the taxi driver describes his only child, can deduce that this child is a genius- able to read & write at 2 y.o, tops the class every year, PSLE score > 270. Now also plays computer games everyday, yet sch results also very good. -

I do have a concern when my DS spends most of his awaking time in school, like now. A child may inevitably use the undesirable word again despite several reminders from parents. This was what happened to DS cos he sat beside this boy. ηηζ―θΏζ±θ θ΅€οΌθΏε’¨θ ι»γI couldn't ask the teachers to allocate him somewhere else.

One teacher may not be able to 'vet' all conversations, but at least can θ§δΈδΈͺζδΈδΈͺγ If can't get a teacher to do it, any school staff can do it too.
Every school will definitely have black eggs, but shouldn't the quantity be reduced as many as possible? This is also one reason why some of us send our kids to PH after thinking the kids there can be groomed to be more well-behaved vs some other neighbourhood schools. Nowadays both parents and teachers play a part in educating the children. Sometimes having a teacher teach the child or tell him off is more effective than thousand words from the parents, especially when he is older. -
