          Hi ppnqq

It really all depends on your child's interest. It would be no good forcing him to learn something he dislikes, right? So I would encourage you to ask him for his preference. Maybe he enjoy playing with instruments instead? So it's still the best to ask for his opinion.

Personally, I learn Taekwondo too. I'm a black belt dan 2. Through my experience, I would say there's quite a big difference between WuShu, Taekwondo, Aikido, and Karate. For Taekwondo, it's more of using legs and sparring. However, for Wushu, it's more of using weapons, and less sparring. For Aikido, i'm not really sure about it.

To put it all together, it's still the best to ask your child =D

Agreed with SwimInSG that child’s interest is important factor.

Personally, I prefer non-sparring, as I am kiasu & kiasee. No matter how much safety precautious there are and how good our child may be, we are not in control of his\her sparring oponent and accident can happen. Thus, taekwondo, boxing, aikido, etc are out for now.

Who learns to walk without falling? πŸ˜› Might be good to expose them to some dangers πŸ™‚ Then, in secondary schools, they wouldn't have the fear of getting bullied πŸ˜„ Nevertheless, there are still some dangers to every sports.

Would even be better if you pick up different sports.

Too scary for a group of young kids dealing with wushu weapons together.. ..
I get real nervous when my DS did broadswords and stick in group class.. ..
Luckily now he does private lessons and trains alone.. . πŸ˜“
