All About Flu and Cough

Hi Lily
Thanks for sharing your experience. I am not making any accusations on the TCm, just sharing my real experience.
In fact the third visit’s tuina was done during the nose herbal steam. The auntie came in only in the last 5 mins. We then proceed to the treatment room after the steam for another 5-7 mins. Even DH noticed that this time round it was very fast.
I feel very paiseh to confront them. But i am going this weekend again. Hope this will not recur.
Thanks. -

You don't have to feel paisay, just tell Dr Tan how you feel. As Dr Tan is very open and accept all comments so that they can improve themselves. -

I agree with Lily. It's good and no need to paiseh to ask question.
Who knows, maybe for some improved or different condition, a shorter tuina duration is required. The doc is there for you to raise questions and I am sure she is happy to clarify whatever doubts you have. At the same time, you get to learn different things with every question answered. -
Hi,
I am new at this TCM thing. My older girl has been having a persistant cough recently and I have tried several doctors but the cough persists. Are all TCMs the same? It seems a lot of people are talking about the TCM at Havelock Road. Is that the best? -

I dare not say they are the best coz there are
many TCM out there. But I can said that Dr Tan is very profession
and my 3 sons conditioned had improved. Especially my
youngest son, he tends to cough very easily
and take very long time to recover. Ever since he get
treatment from Dr Tan, I hardly see him cough and running nose.
So my advice is give it a try. Also you must be patient as
as the result is not in 1 or 2 visit. -
There is no such thing as which TCM is the best, as I believe each clinic has its own area of specialties. Based on the experience on my 2 daughters, the TCM at Havelock is quite specialized in treating nasal allergies, as such if the persistent cough is caused by the back flow of nasal mucus, then perhaps they are a good option.

I see, thank you felizbebe and lilytan. I never used to really believe in TCM but after reading all the good feedback, thought I will give it a try.

Besides the havelock TCM, any others to recommend for this cough problem? Just in case havelock is too far and my dh will grumble and complain.

I did not read through previous posts so not sure if this has been shared earlier.
Manuka honey has proven effective for my children esp for both ds with their wheezing/ asthmatic coughs. They take UFM10 daily and higher when unwell. After trying various brands, I like the honey from Hock Hua the best.
I also boil thyme with rock/ brown sugar. Another effective home remedy. I also started giving cod liver oil- so far so good. Then again they are now much older and have passed the frequent cough stage that plagued their younger days
As long as I avoid food with artificial colouring and excessive MSG, coughs occur minimally.
