Note that edupoll is not an official educational research institution in Singapore. Even the use of the term \"SAP schools\" is no longer up to date but they did not change it in their latest report. The did not explain their school ranking methodology and criteria too which is critical and informative for any credible school ranking institution. For example, the criteria and methodology for the annual universities ranking in USA are clearly explained.

Anyway, the school cutoff point can be obtained from the MOE school information website and I have checked. RV cutoff point last year was 254 and NJC was 259. Their average scores are 258 and 262 respectively which place both schools higher than a few in the list. That said, the website already make it clear that it is by prestige. However, who decide what is prestige?

I believe Cat High’s cut off point this year will be higher. They obtain excellent result for ‘O’ level. 12 top scorer plus a president scholarship winner. Their cut off point last year was 249

In 2007, I took my PSLE and scored 272. I got into RI, which was my first choice but I opted out to go to NUS High School. From what I remember, an A* in math and science and at least 250+ score is needed to get in. Hope this helps.

I don't think it's 250 + ., unless it's via DSA.

The score via PSLE is at least 260. :lol:

School Demographic
The school has a large Chinese majority with a significant Malay and Indian minority, reflective of the demographics of Singapore. The Primary School Leaving Examination scores of students admitted from primary school through the examination via the PSLE admission phase are mostly in the 264-285 range. Those admitted through Direct School Admission have PSLE scores ranging from 250-285. There are also many foreign students, mostly from Vietnam or China, from Year 3 as the school aims to have a 20% foreign enrollment. There are more boys than girls in the school.

Last year, the NUSH Admin advised those applying after receiving their PSLE scores that they had to have AT LEAST an A* in both Math and Science and a minimum aggregate of 250. Of course, they take in the best of the ones who applied and thus the cut off could have been more than 260.

Year 1 ( Phase 2)

The registration period for Phase 2 is only available after PSLE result are released.

Registration

1. Registration can be carried out under the section ‘Online Application’ on this website .
2. For those with no computer access, computer terminals will be set up at the NUS High School campus for applicants to register online.
3. Copies of the PSLE result slip are to be submitted upon request and are non-returnable.

Selection Criteria

1. Shortlisting of applicants will be solely based on the PSLE performance.
2. Applicants with aggregate score of 250 above with A* in both Math and Science are encouraged to apply.
3. Do take note that the aggregate range of 2008’s PSLE pupils posted to 2009 secondary 1 is 260-278

Note that last year, generally most of the top schools had a lower COP. Year before that was 2 or 3 points higher So got A* in math and science and 250+ means you can apply, but you most likely need 260+ to secure a place thru PSLE.

How do you find NUS High School so far? Any comments that you can share regarding the teaching method or the environment?

School life seems pretty much okay for now. However, I must let everyone know that I am pretty much a minimalist in modules so I may or may not be an accurate representation of the school cohort.

The teaching method is very...grown-up-ish. There is rarely much scolding in class and students are supposed to copy notes refer to notes given and stuff like that by themselves. If we need help in any subject, we have to consult the teacher ourselves. And overdue homework will not be chased after. Only a percentage of the marks for that piece of homework will be deducted. This is also a warning for parents with students who need to be \"prodded\" to work because a couple of my friends are like that and they...aren't doing so well, to say the least.
