Grammatically, "among" and "amongst" hold the same meaning. Its meaning and usage is identical, however its really a stylistic issue as to which to use. For writing that demands a more ‘archaic’ sounding words amongst would be required. E.g. The noble king walked amongst the people.

In the above scenario "amongst" would be preferred. "Among" is a more modern variation of the word. E.g. Kenneth was among the top 10 pupil in his class.

There are 2 answers given -> (1) and (4).

I would go with 4 - concealed - especially together with \"almost completely\". Veil denotes partial cover - eg thinly veiled threat or bridal veil. And would not completely shroud something.

Hi - typically for reported speech the tense needs to move one stage backwards (a very ineloquent way of expressing it but that's all I can thhink of).
So present becomes past. Past becomes past perfect.

In this case - The person has not swum yet. The \"You swim well\" a general description about the person's ability to swim. This should translate into \"I swam well.\"

Had swum would be acceptable - if the stem already said \"You swam well\". Perhaps in the context of \" You swam well. The photo finish will definitely show that you are the winner.\"

Here \"had swum\" would be appropriate - as the swimming has already taken place.

Not as succintly expressed as Ridcully but I hope it makes some sense.
