Yes, students who are especially strong in either subject will have high chances to go into GEP. This is the information got from ex-GEP students. He is weak in math and especially strong in english, in reverse, his brother is especially strong in math. Both were in GEP finally. They have their own tuition center called mindstretch.ksasalways:
Interesting comment here. So if one is especially strong in one (e.g. lang / math) he/she still stands a good chance to get into GEP??? Any comment on this?
Thanks for the reply....btw, how good is MSLC for GEP students? Are they relevant and useful??? -

Ha ha ha....just to share. Initially you dun expect them to clear round 1, but after they clear, the 'secret' hope to clear round 2 will just creep in.....
This is so true !
When DD got the consent form for the 1st round, she almost didnt want to take it - reason : what if i need to change school? I'll miss my friends.
Since we also didnt have any idea about GEP, except that it was very difficult, we told her that the test serves as a good experience. No extra 'revision' for this, in fact just think of it as another 'weekly' test set by your teacher. She agreed.
Good thing we did that, cos in her class only 1 student didnt take it. And in class later, everyone was taking about the test taken. And she was proud that she took the test. Although, she told us after the test, that the paper was tough. No worries as long as you've tried, we told her.
Yesterday, DD came back with the Selection Test form. We were surprised since we didnt prepare her for the 1st round at all, and we dont have the 'luxury' to send her for any tuition either!
We didnt have high hopes of her clearing the 1st round. So now that she's selected for the second round, I cant help but agree that there is this a bit of the 'secret' hope for her to do well ! And she for a change, is looking forward and excited about the Selection Test.
And thats why I ended up in this thread.
Cheers! -

Test center will be by region from what I can see...thus depending on where you DS/DD's school is now, they will congregate with students from surrounding school during that two days.ctct61t:
By the way, where will the selection test be held?
My DD mentioned the second round test will be in Nanyang on Wednesday or Thursday in some week.
BTW...my DS got thru too....so proud of him no matter what the final outcome is.
:congrats: to you and your ds! -
My DD told me she was very happy she took round 1 test as those studens not took the test would have to stay at classroom for a lot of extra exercise at that time.

After all it's a GEP test that's supposed to identify those who are academically gifted and there shouldn't be a need to prepare for the test or to get anxious about it. If you're gifted, you'll be selected. If you're not selected, then GEP is not for you. And if you're not naturally gifted but got selected because you paid big bucks to be trained for the test, then good luck to your kid because it'll be hard-going.
200% AGREE!!!! :salute: :hugs: -
some schools like Rosyth - help to prepare their pupils for GEP tests, after sieving out those that got potential. But majority of schools donโt. no wonder Rosyth is so hot, hot, hot!

This is exactly what I felt. Haha, just not good in putting them in words like you
My ds2 is contented with clearing round 1....like his kor kor. This is what he said \"mummy, I know I will not make it to the GEP cos' I'm not the gifted type lah. Anyway kor kor also cannot make it in round 2\" My ds1 also kept telling him that that the qn for round 2 is very difficult......but when asked him what is the qn like.........he said he forgotten :scratchhead: -

I believe most of our children are clever, the way how parenets and teacher guide them is also important. -

I'm not sure the result. I went their free seminar, and spent $10 to bring my DD for the test. Test result is not good. So I give up since then.
