Looking for better 2nd & 3rd tier Secondary Schools

are there any websites that compiles the open house dates for the secondary schools , by region ?

I do not think so except to check out their websites or call them up because from what I know, some do have open house but did not put it up on their websites. HTH.

I do find it strange that a major school marketing event like the open house day is not published in their website. Ah well, back to the old calling ways of using the phone instead of using the keyboard.

Not all, some. I knew this when I called up to check and was surprised that they did not put up the notice on their website too.

What are the better schools around Yishun, AMK, Bishan, Sembawang and Toa Payoh for such scores? TIA.

Most schs hv given out the booklet on \"Choosing your secondary school for admission in 2012\". The COP for express and normal streams of each individual school is shown there.

Look at the awards, which are the Value-Added Schools? Secondary schools are ranked.

The award recognises schools whose innovative practices have led to significant benefits in the all-round development of students in the Normal (Academic) and Normal (Technical) Courses. The recipients for 2010 are:
* Bendemeer Secondary School
* Yishun Town Secondary School

Take a look also at banding for express and normal.

My friend was asking if these neighborhood schools have good culture (for low express score). Hope I have gotten the schools correct and please forgive me for the long list of schools which I need feedback for because it’s a mixture of my friend’s and mine. Thank you.

My daughter just completed her PSLE this year so this thread is even more useful.


I’m wondering how to select a school by COP or Banding? For example based on the COP of 2010;
Nan Chiau COP is 234 and Band 1 (only Express) and St Margaret COP is 239 and Band 4 (Express/NA/NT).
So based on the above, which is a better school to select?
COP is based on PSLE results while the Banding is based on the O level L1B5 results.

Most will go for Band 1 schools. St Margaret's COP is 239 for non-affiliation. A certain percentage of the available vacancies will go to their old girls. COP is just an indication of the T-score of students entering the sch and gives one a rough indication if she can make it to the sch.
