Hi parents, I just found this wonderful site.
My boy is in p1 this yr, a lot of homeworks. I have problem with his story writing. Please share with me how did you manage? -
This "story writing" thing must be something new that they introduced not too long ago. DD & DS did not have that when they were in P1. But that (P1) was very very long ago.
As for homework, it depends on the teacher. Sometimes they could not complete the syllabus within schedule and suddenly just before the exams, the kids are loaded with tons of homework; especially before a long break like the 4-day break next week.
In case this is mistaken as a "complaint", I must say that I have no regrets sending my kids to wgps. -

May I ask how is your boy's command of English? If he is Ok, then maybe reading various types of story books and writing practice may help. If not he may have to start with vocabulary & grammar building and practice writing simple sentences first. You may want to go to mc online (the school's e-learning portal) for vocabulary and sentence writing practices.
Another thing you may want to check is if your boy understand the picture (so far only one picture is given) given in the story writing excercise. The helping words given usually will guide the student in the story writing so encourage him to use those words in the order given to ensure a smooth flow of the story.
Hope my suggestions help. -
Hi, any parent whose children are in West Grove Primary? Would like to check how primary 1 children class are allocated? I understand from my friend that her daughter will take a test before class is allocated. Does West Grove do that?
Please share.
Thanks -

My son did not need to take a test when he enrolled this year. The class was already allocated when we received the letter from the school about the orientation. Have no idea how they allocate the class, I suppose it is random.Hi, any parent whose children are in West Grove Primary? Would like to check how primary 1 children class are allocated? My daughter is also doing P1 in westgroove this year. She was also alloted a P1G before the school orientation. Not sure how they alloted it.
But my DD did mention that on the first day of school the teacher did ask them some questions in english, maths etc. May be just to judge the knowledge of the class overall. -
same… no idea how the calss allocation was done.
my boy at P1E this year.
