      Muffins:
      S6169:

      need your help please:

Last Sunday, Sean ( ) his little brother for a stroll when he saw a cat on a tree.
      1. took
      2. is taking
      3. am taking
      4. was taking
which one is correct, 1 or 4?
      Thanks!

Hmmm... both look correct.... lemme think.....

I'm guessing that \"took\" is the correct answer as \"was taking\" implies that the action of taking him has not yet been completed. However, it is. Thus, \"took\" is the more apt answer...

      hope that helps 😄

My take on this is \"was taking\". 😄

Sean's action of taking his little brother for a stroll was not completed yet when it was interrupted by another action - him seeing a cat on a tree.

Thank you so much for your help. this Q is extracted from MGS's 2009 SA2 paper, No.1 is given by the answer sheet. However, my ds and I also chose No.4. very confused :?

              Hi,

I'm new here. I need help on S&T. Could someone kindly help me on the following question?

Q: \"I am leaving for London tomorrow morning,\" Shermaine told her mother.

Shermaine told her mother that she would be leaving for London the next morning.

              or

Shermaine told her mother that she was leaving for London the next morning.

              Which one is correct?

              Thank you.
The first sentence. As \"was\" from the second sentence means that she had already left for London and came back. 😉

I think the answer sheet is unreliable.

I think the answer sheet is unreliable.

there have been more than a few instances where the answers in the sheet were wrong.

                  so do watch for them
