Parents with P1 kids this yr (Bro Mark, Mrsbongz, etc),

Were you allowed into the school on the first day of school this year? I was told that the school forbade the parents for following their P1 kids from this year onwards. Will greatly appreciate if someone can confirm this. TIA.

We went i think, the sch arranged a whole series of talks for the parents… U r only allowed to go visit ur kids at recess though. Dh n i actually skipped the talks n left after waving ‘hi’ to ds at recess. He was too busy talking to his buddy to bother w us. The buddies also brought the kids to tour the sch during recess. After the first day, parents r not allowed in. Iirc lah, old liao, not v gd memory lo.

I couldn’t take leave on the first day of school as I had some urgent work to do during the first week. But I know that my dw was there, she even took down notes surreptitiously because I asked her to record everything that is impt; surreptitiously because she thinks that only siao-on parents will take notes. I’ve to agree with her on this, hehe. Luckily I’m not the one taking notes.

Surprise to hear that this year onwards, school doesn’t allow parents into the compund during first day. Is there a miscomm?

Thanks Bro Mark and Mrsbongz for the confirmation.

My neighbour told me she wasn't allowed to go in. That makes me very puzzled. Maybe she remembered wrongly, not first day.

Saw from the thread of another school that the parents are not allowed to go in for 2012 P1 first day. Hope PH doesn't practise that.

There'll be buddies (P5) at the gate to receive the freshies (P1) from 1st day onwards.... They will bring the kids to the hall, bring them around, pick them up from classroom during recess and bring them to canteen, teach them how to buy food (actually bought food for my ds), etc etc for the whole week.... same one that your P1er kanna at the gate will take care of him/her for that 1 week.
So, no worry... just hand over to the P5er on day1 and go drink coffee... the buddies (usually girls) will give their cares sweets and little treats to soothe them .... so most P1ers get over their \"fear\" rather quickly....

During my dd’s time, the P5 buddies took care of them for the first two days and the following Monday. Now, they have to stay back the whole week?

Yup, PH been very kind to my ds. First, they change the buddy system to one week. Second, they took away all the P1 exams. At this rate, if my ds can qualify for GEP round 2, bet sch will also charter the bus for him. Maybe eventually at P6, they will allow him to take the lift. Yup, tkk. :siam:

HI Mums & Dads of K2s-going-to-P1,

Let the kids enjoy the last 2 months of K2....
yes, yes, will enjoy by going vacations.. Hehe.. this is our last chance to be able to skip sch & not feel guilty to travel during sch term time 😄 Best is not squeeze with parents of pri/sec sch kids who can only go vacation during sch holidays.

I guess, being boys, they will not b keen on my company when they are older, better treasure these times while I m still their favourite female :rotflmao:
                        haha!
Maybe you'll regain their favoritism when they need you to look after your grand kids
