I think you mean Jade Garden Seafood Corner. That is the famous one. Actually along that street there are others. Ate there for lunch after our trip to Lotus Desaru. I am not really into seafood but since it I am around the area, must try. Got a shock when I got the bill for our lunch of 1 lobster and some vegi dishes. Actually calculate back should be ok as compared to the price in Singapore. So better to ask the price before you order just to check...
As for the direction to the restaurant, it is really quite direct, only one road all the way. I am a visual person, so I would recommend google maps -- http://maps.google.com/
I find the \"Get Directions\" function on the left side very useful. Simply type the location you want (if possible, the actual address), sometimes, like Lotus Desaru, they will pop up the address for you automatically. For Jade Garden, that one you have to look up the address (in this case its Jalan Hee Seng, Sungai Rengit). So point A to point B and click \"Get Directions\" it will show the actual shortest route and calculate the time and distance. It will give you step by step directions on how to get there with the actual road to take in blue on the map. Sometimes, like this case, it even suggest an alternative route.
For some place (too bad not available in Malaysia yet), you can drag the man icon on the top left corner to the place you want to visit and you are \"transported there\". Quite fun actually. Tried it for the road outside my place and it works (although google did the filming about 2 years ago..). -

Parking may be a problem. May have to park further down the narrow lane. -
Anyone have booked taxi to travel around in Desaru before? Any recommendations. Am thinking to take the ferry up as the roads seems narrow and difficult to travel on at night and in additional to it being our 1st attempt to drive up to M’sia and no company, I give up the idea of druing up. Thus, thinking to get taxi to bring us around instead. Am travelling in mid Nov thus, would need recommendations on it soon. Many thanks.

I have not booked a taxi to Desaru but I suspect it will be expensive and not common. Going as part of a tour group may be a cheaper option. -

Yes, I agree. the whole area is pretty deserted. I think it will be quite difficult to get a taxi, especially for return trip to the resort.marmum:

it is not too difficult to drive to Desaru. Just follow the sign to Kota Tinggi/Mersing. when you are near to Kota Tinggi, there will be sign pointing to Desaru.
Even if you are lost, it is also a nice experience. -
