This is the 3rd time my boy (6 years old) had injured his hands. Last 2 times was sprained and no fracture. But now, really made my heart pain... On Sunday, he hurt his shoulder while playing at home and he couldn't move his shoulder at all. And when I bring him to see a Chinese doctor who said that he had a dislocate shoulder and he fix it back at the spot. My son cried like hell at that moment but later he actually can move his shoulder again and it not so painful. But this morning, I decided to take hime to polyclinic for an x-ray just to be sure. To my horror. the x-ray showed that his collar bone is fractured and need to go to NUH.

The doctor didnot cast for him , just put his hand on the arm sling only.
Any one got this experiences or knew someone who had this experience. pls advice e , how seriously this could be? My por boy ambition is to be a badminton player , can he? 😢

My bro broke his collar bone in his teens. It happened when he ran and he fell, and his collar bone landed on a root of a tree.

There is no need to put a cast for fracture collar bone, all you need to is to keep the arm in a sling. All would be ok once the bone heals and he can do whatever he likes. It takes a while, at least a month if I m not wrong.

My bro now is a very reputable dentist by the way. So he uses his hands alot 😄

            To aid healing:

            1. Take Vit C, calcium and glusosamine (either food or supps).
            2. Have enough rest/sleep.
            3. Avoid any strenous activities even after it heals for at least 3 months.
            4. If possible, go for physiotherapy often to get the shoulder working again.

Kids heal and recover fast. Impt now is to make sure he recovers well (let the bones heal properly).

I don’t think there’ll be an impact on sports in future.

Yes. Go to polyclinic for x-ray first. If no broken or fracture, you may then like to see chinese bonesetter for massage if still not well after 3 - 4 days.

I had fell down and my wrist was swollen and pain for a few months, it was only after seeing chinese bonesetter, then it fully recover.
