My son got in to GEP too. Now I am scrambling to find out more information about the program and which school to select. Does anyone know where to search for feedbacks from current GEP student's mummy?

Congrats fiona77! :rahrah:Hi all,
my son got into GEP too, i'm a little bit anxious because i have another son in P1, whose SAP result is not so bad, i want the two can study in the same school in the future.
anyone have the same situation? any suggestion?
As for your situation, you can transfer your P1 boy to the same school too, provided the school has available vacancy. -

Congrats Prettydol n son! :rahrah: -
:congrats: to all parents and dds and ds for getting into GEP!
I believe soon you will be attending a briefing about the GEP. Booths will be set up by all the GEP holding schools then to let you know more about their schools. Note all gep schools teach the same gep syllubus and the kids will be taking the same common tests and exams set by the GE branch. However,maybe you would like to consider a few points coming to the selection of a gep for your kids:
1. Distance
2. School's culture
3. School's range of cca
etc..
If you intend to choose a school which is not too near your house, please check with the school's bus operator first if they serve your area.....

:congrats: :congrats: to Prettydol and your DS! :rahrah: :rahrah: -
Congratulations to all P3 parents & children - who clear round 2 difficult test, receive yellow envelope soon, choose a GEP centre.

consider:-
==========
- Distance everyday, to and fro two trips.
- school's culture.
- school's range of cca.
- confirm availability of school bus transport to fetch child, before you even sign up for that centre. If stay too far, sometimes no school bus to your place. )
a) in the east :-
===============
Tao Nan (SAP school)
St Hilda
b) in the west:-
===============
Nan Hua (SAP school)
Nanyang (SAP school)
- girls from NYPS can go NYGH next time, if score minimum > 250 COP thereabout.
Henry Park
ACS (all boys school + affliated to Secondary)
Raffles Girls (all girls school - but NO affliation to RGS Secondary)
c) in the north:-
==============
Catholic High (SAP school + all boys school + affliated to Secondary)
d) others :-

Oh dear, poor boy! I have been wondering what happened to the boy since her last post. :sad: Couldn't believe the school's inflexibility in changing class/teachers. At 11 years old go where? On 2nd thought, if leave GEP, can still attend normal class in the same school right? :scratchhead: But poor boy will be so sad...
Thanks for sharing the blog, ksalways. It was so sad reading the blog post. I can't believe the injustice the poor boy was subjected to.jtoh:
Was reading this blog by a mother who was forced to take the painful decision to take her boy out from the GE program.
http://pamlim.blogspot.com/2011/02/sunshine-boy-to-leave-gifted-program.html ....
On another note, I think the blogger is a contributor on this forum.
Can search Pamela Lim (if not wrong, she is the blogger):
A mother of 5
An Entrepreneur (ex-CEO of a listed company)
A lecturer (with SMU)
According to the mother, the school is afraid and parents are also afraid....
but anyway, wish Pamlim would find a solution (perhaps already had) -
Congrats to all parents & kids who made it into GEP. Time really flies....
Last year... this time.... we too experienced the same thing. Hence, I cud really feel ur joy, ur excitement, ur pride & of course also a little uncertainty & many \"?????\"
Nevertheless, it is no doubt an important decision that both parents & kids got to make. To go or not to go? Which school to choose? etc, etc.....
In this decision making process, itz good to allow thie kids to make the final decision, since they r the ones who will be attending the program. As parents, we want the best for our kids, & most importantly, when they r happy, we r happy too.
All the best parents & kids, enjoy ur journey ahead, whether GEP or not, choose what u think is best for u!
