Oh dear, poor boy! I have been wondering what happened to the boy since her last post. Couldn't believe the school's inflexibility in changing class/teachers. At 11 years old go where? On 2nd thought, if leave GEP, can still attend normal class in the same school right? :scratchhead: But poor boy will be so sad...
Thanks for sharing the blog, ksalways. It was so sad reading the blog post. I can't believe the injustice the poor boy was subjected to.jtoh:
Was reading this blog by a mother who was forced to take the painful decision to take her boy out from the GE program.
http://pamlim.blogspot.com/2011/02/sunshine-boy-to-leave-gifted-program.html ....
On another note, I think the blogger is a contributor on this forum.
Can search Pamela Lim (if not wrong, she is the blogger):
A mother of 5
An Entrepreneur (ex-CEO of a listed company)
A lecturer (with SMU)
According to the mother, the school is afraid and parents are also afraid....
but anyway, wish Pamlim would find a solution (perhaps already had) -
Congrats to all parents & kids who made it into GEP. Time really flies....
Last year... this time.... we too experienced the same thing. Hence, I cud really feel ur joy, ur excitement, ur pride & of course also a little uncertainty & many \"?????\"
Nevertheless, it is no doubt an important decision that both parents & kids got to make. To go or not to go? Which school to choose? etc, etc.....
In this decision making process, itz good to allow thie kids to make the final decision, since they r the ones who will be attending the program. As parents, we want the best for our kids, & most importantly, when they r happy, we r happy too.
All the best parents & kids, enjoy ur journey ahead, whether GEP or not, choose what u think is best for u!

hi HyperKiasu,
Thank you for sharing.
regarding the mother of 5 case, this is what I fear.
a child's esteem will be hurt badly, if he/she 'fall from grace'.
more inclined to let a child stay in mainstream, at least this is how I feel. -
:congrats: to all ds & dd who got in to GEP
-
Thank you 25hr mama, phtthp, ksi, jtoh, syshi, vsk, 711mum, HHB, vlim, Andaiz, just888, laura02, Champion, just4fun & Tresille for your congratulations & advice

Actually I feel that all the schools should announce the results on the same day to avoid the anxieties. Some schools have holidays till next Wed - imagine how short the notice is to make such a big decision for the child. Briefing next Sat, final decision following Wed. -
vsk:
Congratulations to all those kids who got in. My daughter's teacher confirmed that my DD did not get in :-).
Do not feel discourage. Think of the positive side. You'll have more time to prepare her for PLSE. That's what i'll do if my DS fail to get it.
Cheers.
