Oops. For the East Branch.
Hi there,
The Eastgate 2012 timetable is available but not on their website yet. You can leave your contact number and email on their enquiries section on their website and they'll mail you a schedule if you ask for it. -
Just email them [email protected]
They will send it to you. -
Hi jackietang & hazellim,
Thanks. I sent them my request via their website but no reply after more than a week. I’ve just emailed them so will wait for their reply. -
Why don’t you ring them up? You’ll get immediate response to your query.
As far as I can tell, their admin support is usually quite professional. -
Hi Markfch
You did mention that the child should already have a good foundation in the language to reap max results in CH. Can you elaborate more on your definition of good foundation? Just want to have a feel whether my son can catch up in CH or at least he knows what the teacher is teaching. My son has managed to get through the placement test at CH. Below is a quick profile of my son:
My son (to be P1 in 2012) can read quite well and quite smoothly. He has a reasonable grasp of phonics that has helped him a lot in his spelling. He understands simple present and past tenses, common/proper nouns, singular/plural nouns, article etc. He reads a lot too.
Thanks -

You said the magic word. If your ds reads a lot, then definitely he'll have no problem with CH. Why I mentioned this (about the good foundation requirement) is that I noticed CH engage their P1 students with OE compre (with inference type of qns) and essay writing very early on. So if a child is still grasping with the basics of the language, he may be quite lost during lessons.

Iirc, my ds was reading Famous Five and similar books independently end of K2. He does well in grammar/vocab, but his scores for essay and OE compre are quite mediocre, which makes me think that CH pitched their standard quite high; which is good, otherwise I may as well save money and teach ds myself if it's too simple. -
Hi,
Just curious about their standard? Is the standard slightly higher than what the school is teaching for the same level?
My friend’s DS (P2 next yr) went for the assessment but did not get in! According to my friend her DS doing quite well in class. He scored ard 90 marks for his test/exam! She was so surprised that he failed the test!
Btw my dd will be attending the class next year! Do you communicate well with the teacher? -

I assume you're posting this question to me.

I've no doubt that CH's standard is higher than my ds sch's standard, this is what I can say; judging from what I see in the assessments, and from the disparity of marks he obtains from both places. For instance, he had to write a 100-word essay recently on an excursion within one enrichment lesson. He also needs to write essays in sch, but at least for the sch's one, he was given a week or so to complete it.
But still, I'm quite shocked to hear that your friend's ds (scoring around 90% in sch) couldn't get thru the test. Could it be that he was unwell during the test? Yes, I feel that CH does have some expectation, but in no way are they so atas that students scoring 90% cannot get it. Most probably there is another explanation for this.
For communication, there are two PTM a year. For me, I chose not to attend as it's optional. -
Hi markfch,
Thanks for your reply:) I’m shocked to hear that too!! He scored 28/50 and their passing rate is 38/50. The receptionist advised her to send her DS for 1-1 tuition. I think that their standard is quite high and they are very strict with their in-take of students.
