F&E or packaged tour to melbourne? for 3 adults and 2 kids (3YO and 7YO)
Melbourne is VERY easy to get around, and you can do the day trips... as and when you want from the city centre.
You have a choice of hotels or the Melbourne Short Stay apartments...
IF you want to drive out, it's easy as well... to rent a car from the city and drive out and about. Parking is a bit of a hassle, so make sure your accommodation has ample parking for you (which is about $25-30 a day).
Cheers! -

It's the fashion capital of Australia!
I like to shop at the harbour/port DFO for kids clothes and stuff like Springfield for myself.
Free tram service to thy area!
The city area shops are better for ladies wear I think. -

Go to Richmond. Bridge road, lots of factory outlets there.
There also Queen Victoria Market. I love their markets. Everything look so nice and fresh. And if you go just before they call it a day, all their fresh produce will be going at steep discounts.
If it's a Sunday and you are into craft products, you can head to the St Kilda Esplanade Mkt. -

AGREED....and if want orchard road type its bourke st mall... :siam:cheerymummy:
Thank you! It looks good but a bit too far from the city..I would need to be in the city to attend some business meetings but bringing my kids so they can also enjoy. Any kiddy attractions in the city?
Take a day trip to Philip Island. Worth the day off.
Docklands have a nice shopping area... cheap branded clothes!
Eating around Chinatown is good too.
Can't remember mich kiddy fun stuff around there really... Maybe the aquarium? -

Wanna share some of my experiences on my recent Melbourne trip:
1) We went for F&E package without driving. We booked 3 day-tour packages when we were at the Melbourne airport. The price is cheaper than booking on-line or booking through our local travel agent.
2) We made a big mistake in staying at Travelodge Docklands as it is out of the city. There isn’t any restaurants and supermarket nearby.
3) My 6 yr old son enjoys the Puffy Billy, Penguins parade and farm activities. Great Ocean Road is beautiful. Although is a long day tour but we were able to catch some sleep in the bus.
4) Meals in Melbourne are expensive. An average meal can easy cost A$20 for a family of 2 adults + 1 kid.
