GEP 2011 - Screening & Selection

for overscribed case like NYPS, will GE branch or the school decide who will get in? And on what basis? :? I understand somewhere that the round 2 only tell whether you are top 1% and no score is released.
If you notice top right corner, there is a number (believe is 1-566 this year), after they put in the 'current-school' GEP student in, is it possible that is the sequence they follow? Or they arrange the number by school? -

Don't faint.
Today I saw the HPPS's kid wearing the blazer I nearly wanna to faint. Oversize plus ugly colour. Wondering why they never choose a dark brown colour one instead.Flowermonaster:
Not the uniform style just the Colour I don't like. The design is nice I also like the idea of not having to iron, that's definitely a plus point!
I am so relieve that we have finally made our decision. Hope to get our choice of sch.
They should choose a hue that don't make the kid looks so lifeless.
Dont worry, you will get your choice school. :rahrah: -

I am not the one who determine the choices..as the master is the one. I only help to collate the information and a few the schs for him to choose. He is only looking at 2 only in the end.
Just888, so I guess you hv not selected the school that I was hoping for ?
Keeping my :xedfingers: as he had limited his choices.
All the best to the others too! -

No,I don't think so,it should be arranged by the school. As I checked with my ds 's number is close to his classmate's number. -

btw, no longer top 1%, should be top 1.4% since we have 566/42000. -

Well, I ve not really sat down with her to discuss seriously. Every item I highlighted as a potential in a causal approach, she said her current school has. As for types of projects, frankly, I could not give her a clear explanation too! I was hoping this morning they would but wat a disappointment!
Some GEP-initiated programmes have been introduced to the mainstream as well, in an effort to benefit more students. But these are more like enrichment classes or one-off seminars. I feel that one of the benefits of the GEP programme is actually in the pedagogy and how the students are taught. The subjects are taught in a more interesting manner - how certain topics are related to real life. They have lab work every week for science, not just rote learning from textbooks, so there's more tactile learning. I remember one of the first classes in P4 the kids had to work out some group problems concerning M&Ms. (I can't remember the details). The final instruction on the worksheet was \"Eat the M&Ms\". Fun right?
Hi Cats,just888:
Hi all,
I must say I am very disappointed with the briefing n orientation for my dd. Firstly, the presentation mostly covers web site info. The only saving grace is we do have a good n interactive speaker. Our children were led to the auditorium for their briefing. Imagine a nine yr old child sitting through an hr talk. My dd thought it was boring, so did a friend's ds. I was hoping the orientation would convince her, unfortunately, it didn't.
So ur DD not going to participate in the programme? What's her reasoning may I know?
My DS just told me what he had learnt from the talk is that there is social studies and it is an examable subject. My DS is also worried on this subject.

According to GEB, the numbers there have no bearing on a child's ranking. Maybe we can ask vlim what number his son was. If the number is low, (as in 001 - 050) then we know that it is a ranking.HyperKiasu:
