Dear phtthp, thank you for your detailed information on what to expect for Orientation Day as well as enrichment options available. Sounds good! Sorry for this VERY late reply, have been caught up with getting new flat ready, packing, moving, older son’s P1 orientation etc.

        Breadandmuffins:
        Hi

        IdoPilate

Can I check how did you manage to get the AM class? I thought they give priority for the existing N1s PM session kids who want to trsf to AM in N2. Cos I also enrolled for N2 for my DD on the enrolment day in July 2011 and only manage to get the PM class which is actually quite a problem for me , logistically as I do not wish to put her on the sch bus.

        Thanks
        Dear Breadandmuffins,
I queued up on 5th July and prayed very hard for an AM N2 slot and was told I had the last one...my arms and legs were shaking from the stress!! I was fortunate as two parents in front of me in the queue requested afternoon slots. I do hope you manage to find a solution to your logistics issue (I empathize, I seem to spend most of my time shuttling my kids to various activities weekly on public transport). I read on this forum that your DD can request an AM slot for K1 onwards, so hang in there!

          Hi parents

I am concern about 2 classes sharing a big room divided into 2. In the same big room, there’ll b almost 50 kids for k1/2. Kids r easily distracted. Will they be distracted by the other class during lesson time?

Anyone has boy’s uniform and doesn’t want to keep them anymore? I like to take over, thank you.

if there is any current K2 parent whose graduating son going Primary 1 2012 next year and does not need Newton kindergarten boy's uniform anymore or wish to give away, appreciate if you can help pass down son's uniform to porcupine12trade. Her K1 son needs them. Thank you very much for your kindness.

I do agree I was rather taken aback by the classroom set up. The noise from the other half is not blocked out by the furniture cum room dividers. And the class is long and rather dark as the one large window is also being shared. Has this always been the case? I don't recall from my previous \"tour\" which was rather brief and cursory. Any parents of current students have any feedback?

Yes I spoke to the teachers, this has always been the set up. I’m rather disturbed by what I saw. Kids being kids, surely will b distracted.

My son (nursery) is coping fine with the set-up. Actually, the few times I’ve been in their classroom, I din’t notice the sounds from the other half of the class. The shelves etc. help to block the sound. I don’t find the classrooms dark, actually. My living room is probably darker!

Don’t worry about the noises from the other half. I think there will be enough noise from your child’s half of the class to drown out the other sounds! In fact, they are likely to be more distracted by a classmate whispering next to them, than sounds made by 10 kids next door.

And, there won’t be 50 kids in one room for the nursery classes. My sons class has only 12 kids.

                        Hi mummies,

Those whose kids are in newton this year; are both the teachers changed for the next year or is one of the teachers going up with your kids next year? Thanks
