Yes I spoke to the teachers, this has always been the set up. I'm rather disturbed by what I saw. Kids being kids, surely will b distracted.

Hi! My son has been using that so call \"shared classroom\" for 2 years since he moved up to 2nd floor from N1. Not to worry too much. I do not see this as a major concern since my boy has been learning pretty well. He also did not complain of the noise.. 😄

        Hi mummies,

Those whose kids are in newton this year; are both the teachers changed for the next year or is one of the teachers going up with your kids next year? Thanks
Hi, for my son's case, from N1 to N2 > both teachers changed (principal also changed. 😢) From N2 to K1 > same Chinese teacher, different English teacher. From K1 to next yr K2, going to be the same English teacher but different Chinese teacher. Anyway, I think he is going to be in good hands next year. 😂

year end Nov / Dec 6 weeks long school holidays had started ...

yesterday at Popular book fair (Suntec city level 6), i saw 四五快读 (books 1 to 7 + book 8 - a new book containing many passages of interesting, short Chinese stories) the newer version. you may go and buy for child, if need. They are found at the Chinese storybooks section (Zhong Wen Bu section), where many Chinese storybooks are found.

          note:
Popular book fair end next Sunday, 27 November. As 27 is the last day, a lot of goodies will be sold at discount, great promotion price. Popular won't want to keep stock for another year - so on this last day, definitely she'll try to clear as much stock as possible. So don't miss this golden opportunity - last day offer on 27.

those of you whose child is going either to a SAP school or to a non-SAP school but starting Higher Chinese (HCL) mother tongue from Primary 1, will be good if your child can read up to - minimum book number 3 or better still book 4 - in this series Total of 7 books.

for N1, N2 parents whose child can't read yet, parents can read to your child before bed time - one short passage a day from storybook number 8, holding your child's small finger to trace the word one by one at a time slowly, as you read aloud to child, animated by funny sounds or vary voice pitch intonation to make the story come 'alive', capture your child's interest in following the storyline. By the time child reaches K1 or K2, can encourage your child learn to read by himself.

after completing book 6 in this series - can start expose your child to read simple Chinese short novel: example: strategies of Zhu Ge Liang, Hua Mu Lan, Wen Tian Xiang, Yue Fei, Qu Yuan, Da Chang Jin, etc. your child's embrace of Chinese, appreciation of Chinese take off from here ...

hi phttp, do you have the principal or school bus contacts? Hubby and me made a terrible mistake, we thought orientation was last sat when it was 12 Nov… Tried to go to the school today but realise it’s the start of the holidays… Now feel terrible apologetic towards DS, hope can at least rectify the bus arrangements… We stay at AMK

you can try calling Auntie Ong in charge of school bus transport, or sms her at official tel: 9455-3509. There should be school bus to AMK, don’t worry.

however since school holidays had already started, nobody is in school now. Many of the staff had already gone off with family on holiday. In the last week of school holidays, ie. last week of Dec 2011, ie. that week just before school re-opens in Jan 2012, you may try calling up the school - see if any staff happen to come back to pick up your call.

anyway, not to worry. Most important is settle school bus transport.
On his first day at school, you may take half day leave to accompany your son. He’ll be in good hands. The teachers have many years of experience in Newton kindergarten settling kids down in the initial first week in school. They know how to manage kids, trust them.

I have put my son into Ascension kindergarten & it’s on waiting list, however I see lots of negative comments on the school.

I’m thinking on enrolling my son to Newton due to positive feedbacks from parents.

My son is May 2009 baby. Initial plan is to put him into 2 hours drop off program beginning of next year until he can settle down. The class is small & it’s less than 10 kids. Then transfer him to Ascension once there’s a vacancy.

If I call the school beginning of Jan next year, will there be a vacancy for my son? I’m more interested on PM class, because my son wakes up late. If they don’t have vacancy, can I put my son into waiting list? How’s my chance?

Do I need to wait for years in order to put my son to Newton? I have a friend and she registers her son 2 years in advance at ST. James. Not sure if it applies same thing with Newton.
