My girl has asthma too and has been coughing a lot recently. She is using Nasonex but so far, it does not seem to work. It used to but now not so effective. Any other suggestions?

I suggest you give kids yoga class a try πŸ˜‚ For my boy, the frequency of attacks reduced significantly and now he seldom wheeze anymore unless he has been out for a long time in the rain.

I understand from his yoga teacher that some of the postures will help to open up the respiratory tract and certain breathing method can help them remove the mucous if there is.

No harm giving a shot since its school holidays now. If it works for your girl, that would be great then. :imcool:

I try not to give oral medication for something light like cough as all drugs come with some kind of side effect (drowsiness etc…). For my kids, if they’re coughing without phlegm, I would apply vicks under and over their feet before bedtime and cover with blanket/socks. It works like a charm.

I usually feed my DD with 1/4 tsp of Manuka honey. It's quite effective.

Especially now is the raining season, she will cough more at night. Partly becoz we stayed high floor and weather tends to get too cold at night. Sometimes, she will cough till vomit if she eats too full for dinner. πŸ˜“

              Hi hi,

DS started childcare when he is 20 months old. From then, he is literally taking medicine everyday until today. It's been 3 months.
              Hi MyMooMoo

Usually kids will tend to get sick easily @CC and stops by 6mths.
Meanwhile, feed your kids with cod liver oil and some multi-vitamins which you can get easily from Guardian/GNC.

Yoga is useful in many ways, currently I am attending Hot Yoga classes in central area. Do you know of kids yoga classes around the west area? Thinking of sending my ds for kids yoga near my place.

Same here. Put them in CC always fall sick until I start giving them supplement. I go for natural one than buy from the shelf. Gf recommended a good brand for omega salmon oil, multi-vit, chewable vitamin C n cherry drink. Since started them in Sept this year, we have not visited the GP :rahrah:
Whn DD2 has flu or cough, will recover by herself w/in 2 days nowadays. If keen to kn the brand, can PM me.

                    Hi linreen!
My DS is also very weak, having his rounds of cough and flu every 2 weeks.. The whole chunk of his medicine has become part of his daily meal! Doc also prescribed Nasonex for him and not effective for him too.

So after 1-2 yrs of western medicine & antibotics (my DS has become totally immune to antibotics alrdy), I decided to try TCM this year and child massage .. and so far, it has worked well for my DS.
He still coughs at times but much lesser and can tell that the recovery is much faster (previously he can finish rounds & rounds of medicine but still dont recover after 3 weeks).
The TCM i go is under ECONHEALTH - the doc is a lady, v nice and professional, hv a way with kids.

Of course on top of that, I also supplement with :
                    - Daily Vit C
                    - Daily Cod Liver Oil
                    - Manuka Honey
                    - Sambucol (I used to give this to my DS1, it worked well too)

                    :rahrah: :rahrah:

                    Hi Chatelaine
I also hv e same problem with my DS, he ALWAYS cough until vomit.. used to cough until vomit on the bed while still sleeping!....
I also just started Manuka honey with my 2 kids.
Whenever they start to sniff sniff their nose or cough like 1 time, i panic alrdy, quickly give Manuka honey and it often work! πŸ™‚

Thanks to KSP's recommendation on Manuka honey... never realise the magic of Manuka honey. πŸ•Ί

                        Hi Shirley!

I bought manuka UMF8 fr Hock Hua. Can drink daily as UMF is not v high. Price abt $30+.
You may wish to refer to \"Manuka Honey\" thread, I learnt alot fr there.
Other KSP recom honey fr Guardian, Comvita, etc.
You may also want to try Honeyworld (thk in Taka, marina) for e wide range.
Some honey may taste bitter, kids may not like so you may wish to chk before ur purchase. πŸ™‚
