Mvm:
Oh didn't know about that.SBC dad:
Spent $200 on uniforms/accessories, and $240 on books. Whoo! Exp!
Yes, painful! And still got to buy laptop? And to pay for the tea on the 6th. :moneyflies: If we don't go, our sons will have no one to pin their school badge for them in the badge pinning 'ceremony'.
Luckily I applied for leave yesterday for that and was approved.
Btw what about the laptop thing ? Any laptop will do ? Or need specific configuration ?
I know SST needs a 2k+ macbook pro, Maris Stella also apparently. -
Hi, this is from my last year experience. My DS will b Year 2 IP in 2012. The school never request any purchase of laptop and certainly no spec request. But there are many many projects and assignments that requires use of computer and many group works and presentations even in Year 1. So a laptop (mobile compared to desktop) is a necessity and a good printer too for submission of project reports.

In that case even a net book should suffice right ?
Got one lying idle at home.
Printer probably need to buy one since my HP printer really guzzle ink like crazy. -
A question regarding school shoes.
The starter kit stated that can be any shoes as long as more than 70% of it is white.
Just like to find out what sort of shoes do the students wear normally ?
Anyone still wear those white canvas shoes from primary school days ? -

Yup, a netbook should be good enough but the screen could be too small though. -
Parsingh:
Parsingh, sorry to hear that. So near, yet so far. What is his next school of choice ?My son scored exact 247. Did not get posting to ACSI despite it being the first choice and despite 247 being the COP.

Most boys do not wear canvas shoes. They usually wear track shoes or jogging shoes. Popular brands are Adidxx , Nikx , Asix etc etc. 70% need to be white and remaining 30% Blue to match with their Blue Bermuda/Pants. -

Colour laser printers quite ex right ? especially for the toner.

I was thinking net book lighter so not so heavy to carry but maybe 10\" screen is a bit small.
I guess an extra 500g to carry for a laptop is not too heavy after all. -
Is there an ATM withing the school compound? Or the nearest is near the NTUC fairprice across the road? Parents who know, kindly advise. TIA
