I have put my son into Ascension kindergarten & it’s on waiting list, however I see lots of negative comments on the school.

I’m thinking on enrolling my son to Newton due to positive feedbacks from parents.

My son is May 2009 baby. Initial plan is to put him into 2 hours drop off program beginning of next year until he can settle down. The class is small & it’s less than 10 kids. Then transfer him to Ascension once there’s a vacancy.

If I call the school beginning of Jan next year, will there be a vacancy for my son? I’m more interested on PM class, because my son wakes up late. If they don’t have vacancy, can I put my son into waiting list? How’s my chance?

Do I need to wait for years in order to put my son to Newton? I have a friend and she registers her son 2 years in advance at ST. James. Not sure if it applies same thing with Newton.

Oops, just saw this post...I was at the school for some activities and saw the office open. They were re-organizing the classrooms. But I think this info is irrelevant now.

                Happy New Year everyone!

This very disorganised mum is wondering if there was any letter sent out to advise what to expect the first few days of school? We moved last Dec and have not heard anything from the school.

I recall from Orientation that there are 2 snack breaks for the kids? I have to pack my own as my son is pretty allergic to many foods. Can anyone please verify?

Are parents allowed to hang around the school during lesson times (downstairs)? Is there any point in doing so? Am dropping son off, but he takes school bus home.

                Anything else to share anyone?

Many thanks fellow parents! Wishing one and all a good year ahead.

Hi kiasu mum here. Wondering if anyone here has inside info abt this year’s registration date? Last year was 5 July rite?

I called the office but they sounded so hassled (1st day of school), asked me to call again in MARCH! Even site visit also gotta wait till March!

There is no updated info on their website either. It’s very difficult to choose kindys if there is no fixed regn date. Big sigh…

reason why school ask you to call up in March is:-

sometime before March, application forms will be given to existing parents to invite enrolment for their younger siblings, for next year 2013 intake. priority given to existing parents first. there's also a discount given, if put > 1 child into Newton kindergarten.

after parents submit form to admin, admin count and know exactly how many remaining vacancies are left for public. When you call up in March, school can give you a more accurate figure. However each year, the actual registration day take place, sometime early July.

Oic…thank u so much for replying.

As a first time parent, I find the kindy system very confusing. Newton regn in July, Barker in April (?), St James and others can put on waiting list…

So to hedge against no place in Newton, I have to put waiting list at other places, q up at Barker, then wait for July to see if can strike lottery…

Did you also go thru this for your child? Or u relax, plan to just wait till July, if no place then find alternative?

I only registered in Aug! Super blur lah. They only had space for theafternoon session, which was fine for me. But that was three years ago. Dunno if demand has increased.
