Janet,

Seeing you sounds worried and couldn't sleep properly makes me feel bad... Don't think too much when you're in bed. If you have already done your best and your boy already put in effort, don't worry too much. Just like a plant, everyday give it some water and sunshine and God will do the rest. Constantly worrying will makes you more tire. Just remember that a good sleep will gives you more energy to fight in the battlefield the next day! My own made verse. πŸ˜‰

Have a good night sleep & sweet dream!

Read the article on the second top scorer in PSLE 2011 who says that rest is important to do well in exams I believe we as parents must also make sure our kids have enough rest and not too stress

Hi parents of 2012 PSLE kids,

Do you experience a sense of fear walking into the unknown next yr ? This fear has been making me lose sleep at nights of late. Am I doing sufficient with my boy or too much ? I don't want him to be burnt out but don't know if he is doing sufficient practice. :imdrowning: :frustrated:
Next year he will not be going to a good class bcos his results dropped. Eng paper wasnt easy either. Will he get motivated/caring or lousy teachers ?
Hi Janet,

Don't worry. Keep telling yourself all will be well. 80% of what we worry about don't happen. You are feeling this way also because that appears to be the norm and subconsciously you feel guilty to do the opposite, be relax. Social conditioning of our mind is powerful. It is possible not to be so stressed for PSLE and yet do well. A more relax mind is a clearer one. Keep positive. Take some Bach Flower Essence to help reduce your anxiety. Red Chestnut is good for 'over caring the welfare of love one's. Take care, we are walking with you.

The tutor is so irresponsible. Hope you find a good tutor for your DD. God Bless!
No, Vitaminz is not in Popular. My school bookshop sells it. You can check in your school bookshop as well. Or even you can request for it. That is what my friend did last year.

I checked with my ds school bookshop but they don't carry this. What is bookshop name? The one that I checked with was Pacific Bookstores. :thankyou:

Same, Pacific.....

I found today that my school bookshop dont sell this during this vaccation. They said we can buy after the school opened.
Hi,

I think that Vitamindz worksheets can only be ordered through the school. Therefore if the school decides to use the worksheets, they place an order with the company directly. It is therefore not available for purchase individually. But the authors of the Vitamindz series now have a centre offering classes for P4-P6 Science. Maybe you can check that out...

Hi, my dd will be taking the psle next yr too. Although I also worried that she can’t get into a gd secondary school but I always tell myself that as long as she has tried her best, I am happy. Sometimes, she will also ask me what happens if she can’t get gd results for her psle? My reply to her is to work hard now so that she will have no regrets later. Anyway, I will be there to walk this journey with her.

My anxiety has gone into over-drive. However, thanks for your kind words and encouragement. :hi5:

My son is also moving from diff screens - iPad to xbox and iPhone. I really wonder how is he going cope with the speed his teachers are going to drill p6 at this rate. Fortunately his CL and math tutors have started their sessions with him during this hols...or else he will be dreaming all the way to Jan 2012. :slapshead: boys are boys, they don't seem to be worried. Ask him to get grammar or vocab done, that's it...no sense of worry or urgency. :faint:

Dear Janet,

I empathized with you. Maybe it helps to know that your fear is quite normal. I never understood what PSLE stress/fear was until my dd had to take PSLE 2011. All friends of mine whose kid were in the same age felt the same stress. We all survived.... before you know it, it's over. :imcool:

Like to share some of the things I did to cope :

1) Listed out the fears and what I could do about it.
- For eg, My dd was in one of the best classes but unfortunately, the form teacher assigned was previously teaching in the not so good class. Hence, she taught too slowly and kept repeating simple concepts which exasperated my dd and me. At the rate she was teaching, I felt that she would not be able to complete before PSLE. So I actually taught my dd ahead of the syllabus and gave her practice papers to test her understanding/progress.

2) Worked out a time schedule with my dd and taught her time-management.
- Discussed with dd on the targetted time to finish the syllabus, do assessment papers etc. Gave rewards and incentives to motivate her to stick to her schedule. Also made time for play.

3) Constant communication with my dd
- PSLE kids are undergoing tremendous stress too so we need to constantly checked at their well-being. I deliberately made time to talk to my dd and her concerns. Also asked if she was coping alright.... whether workload was too much....whether she was too stressed etc. Prayed and motivated her. At the end of the day, I always remind her that as long as she tries her best, there will be no regrets.

4) Timeout Treats
- My dd loves eating and shopping. So sometimes we'll cook her favourite food/go restuarants or buy her some stuff to help her cope with the constant stress of studying. This helps to renew her strength to move on.

5) My well-being
- The PSLE stress has also gotten to me but I try not to show that to my dd so she would not be affected. To de-stress, I made time to deliberately exercise, went out with friends and did things that I enjoy. Also, reminded myself that academic success for dd is not everything. There are many routes to success. If plan A don't work, try plan B, C , D etc.

Dear Janet, you are a good mum. Under your guidance, your child should be alright so don't worry too much. Take care !
