Hi Buds!
u r so lucky as ur DD’s school allow the parents to see the show and tell.I always wanted to see,but my son’s school didn’t invite parents. -
Hi folks,
I just want to share with u my experience.I am sorry if I repeat.
My son has been bring a paper for prepare show and tell (P1 and P2).There were some categories,I remember some of them.
1.Favourite toy
2.Favourite Story book
3.Favourite Photo
4.Favourite Experiment
5.Favourite Magic Trick
6.Fovourite souvenir
In the form they suggest what are the points need to be included.
Minimum 8 sentenses.I write down one/two sentence for one point. It had to finish in 2 minutes. So sort and sweet. So they can be finish in the time slot.
Most of the P1 kids brought toy.My son brought an simple electrical circuit experiment as he likes much than others. He got full marks. My son said that he only say the "coming from which class" and all the points.I got worried how he can do cos he was not familiar with show and tell.He never do before anything infront of a group of people.Luckily he did well.I heard T did the rehearsal. -
Good luck to all P1 kids!!!
First week of P1

Hi, my DS has just started P1. I am thinking of bringing him for a short trip during the CNY week. Meaning that he would have to miss 3 days of lesson. Can parent advise if you will allow your DS/DD to miss 3 days of lesson and whether the school will allow this?
Thank you. -
i do not have experience about this so i can not quids you
-
i thot doing so may set a bad example for the child... if exception can be made for CNY... the child may feel that s/he can skip school in future ... esp when it is for leisure which i doubt the school will encourage but may not be able to stop if parents were to insist to do so...
for preschool i know esp for those who have relatives / families in neighboring countries to do so... but now that child is in formal school i think line must be drawn dun u think so?

Schools generally strongly discourage this.
As a parent, I wouldn't do so as well. It will set a precedent that it is ok to miss school for fun, sort of school is not important. -

It was a 2nd (experience) for us, smartmummy. And a very enlightening one as well. Children in class were taught to be respectful during their friends' presentation and after every presentation, the teacher invited classmates to feeback..Hi Buds!
u r so lucky as ur DD's school allow the parents to see the show and tell.I always wanted to see,but my son's school didn't invite parents.
1. Voice projection... loud.. soft.. too soft.. or just right.
Then a show of smiley faces (cards) to express that the
friend presented well or a show of sad faces to indicate
that the friend's presentation could use more zest.
2. Show and tell props... too much.. too few.. adequate..
or interesting? Similar to the 1st feedback round, peers
are encouraged to give feedback to presenter.
3. Language/grammar usage?
Was the grammar used in the right context? Any good
words used during presentation?
4. Adequately prepared?
Children were encouraged to memorize their content and
speak confidently while facing the class.
5. Expression?
.... etc ...
In their previous school it was for English Show and Tell and
for the new school they are in the MT department invited us
(parents) to come on the mentioned dates to sit in & watch
6 students present their show and tell in front of the class.
(during MT period).
The soft skills children were indirectly taught while preparing
for this presentation and the gradual preparations done with
the teacher were awesome. Holistic education IS possible to
be inculcated in classrooms and during classroom hours.
My P5 DD1 is reciting poetry in class for oral skills this year.
