I'm still wondering if I should sign up my girl. How does the referral fee/system work? -
Hi
My boy went for the trial class for K2 at Berries tonight. He enjoyed his lesson. But according to the recept counter, the total no. of students in the class is 13. Though they have 2 teachers in the class, just wondering if this class size is considered too big for this level? -

I thk 13 is ok for K1/K2 level.. that means abt 6-7 to 1 teacher. Not forgetting when he is Pri 1, it is abt 35 students to 1 teacher.
My DS also went for class (K1) today for the 1st lesson, was so afraid he will throw tantrums knowing his difficult character..but luckily he takes to the friendly young teacher very fast and enjoyed the lesson very much too!.. :rahrah: :rahrah: -
Yup, Berries is good for creating interest in the Chinese language, esp if your kids detest speaking Chinese. But it is not a tuition centre so I also have friends who pulled out their kids when they are older (upper pri). Not very helpful when the grades are no good.

Hi, my son is in P1. His word recognition ability is ok so I am looking for a centre that is able to build up his comprehension and writing ability. Parents with children at primary level in Berries, can share if Berries is competent in this aspect?
Thanks. -

I thk berries is doing a gd job in generating interest in e kids as Chinese stimes is really not a subject to love.
All I can say is e teachers r lively, lessons r engaging n under such a learning environment, kids seem to learn n absorb better.
At P1, the emphasis will b more on ้ ๅฅ so reading alot of Chinese books also help in his writing ability.
You may wish to do a trial n see how it goes. Or u can try tien hsia too. -
Depends on what type of writing ability you are talking about. If you want composition style, not too much. If itโs recognition of words and learning how to write and use those words, quite ok. They drill a lot on comprehension, sentence making etc and I think itโs sufficient for P1 level. My kid finds the Berries work more challenging than his higher Chinese school work.

yes..class size actually get smaller as the level goes up because some kids could not cope and it is not easy to enter at a higher level as difficult to catch up with the teaching pace if foundation is shaky.
