According to DD, 800~1000+ is the price of Ipad3 and all level will get it in coming June..
If it isn't subsidized, is there any necessity to buy? The kids can use their existing iPad/laptop. -
Did the principal mention how the ipad3 is to be used for learning? How will it add value? Why ipad3 and not other gadgets? Is the latest, newest, most funky gadget the most suitable one?

Curious to know, does your teenager have his/her own personal laptop?

It’s really really hard for me to link leadership with ipad mentioned by the two Ps. Instead, I almost never heard any elaboration about ipad’s function as teaching tool but its Keynote. Personally, I don’t think a fashion device could last for 6-year-teaching.
Reputable school would be proud of its professinal teachers and their words of mouth. I am worried if some IT suppliers involve in teaching.
Also I felt kind of discrimination once i was told that rgs is using free ipad provided by the same supplier. -

Hmm...is he in triple science or triple science talent ? We counted from the list, about 50 taking triple science correct? This 50 includes those in science talent class too. 2 classes should be there about. It's based on what dd and friends analysed...they told me only class E (talent) and F (triple science). Class M has a mixture.
But son's friend, also triple science, is in a diff class as son, so shouldn't there be more than 1 class?justsay:

As far as I know, 1 science talent class and 1 triple science class. Double Maths is compulsory for all students. All those we know of got into their choice, however the school system changes year to year, so cannot set it as a precedent.
This is what we gathered, you could be correct though...

Ok, dd clarified that class E is not science talent class, I got mistaken.
It's their version of 'talent'. Many top scorers in that class.
According to dd, her class range from GPA 3.4 to 3.8 ( non official) and they gathered some classes with GPA below 3. Maybe besides combi, they also grouped by GPA? Just guessing...

My girl is in 4E this year; 3E last year.
34 kids got exempted from Sec 3 SA2 last year and 17 came from her class.
But I do not hear her saying her class is better than other classes. I guess kids don't bother that much. And I also dont bother as long as she does her work diligently and I dont get complaints from teachers :rotflmao: -

Is the price of ipad2 NCS quoted more competitive than Singtel or Apple store? Or is it including the service of 6-year software applications?

I attended the briefing on iPad2 on Sat morning.
I was kind of confused by the message brought across. Will ipad2 be used in the daily teaching? If yes, then all students would need to buy since this will become part of their learning. However, the P & VP mentioned it was not compulsory to buy iPad2 and what does this mean.
Both also said parents of Year 1 could wait for iPad3 which will be introduced to Year 3 onwards. What would be the interim measures when the school has students having iPad2 and others waiting for iPad3 to arrive? How would this device be integrated into the curriculum? A parent mentioned that A level exam is still pen and paper which means relying too much on this device is not consistent with the requirement of A level exam.
Also, with the impending launch of iPad3, what is the hurry of buying iPad2 for Year 1 students? We all hope to buy the latest gadget and hope to last longer during the years in RV.
