I will check with dd when she is back tonight on her showing of our BIG dictionary to her teacher.
Dictionaries are reference materials and teachers should not insist on a particular kind/type.
If RV is to follow the University's style, then the books listed in the book list should be called as reference books/materials.
Math notes are given which means the math textbook is optional?
Dd's teacher did not insist on a particular EL dictionary. So I guess it really depends on the teacher.

Today dd’s CL teacher left and a new relief teacher took over. Is the turnover rate of teachers high ?

Don’t think the turnover is high. If i remember correctly, Dd has enountered one change of teacher due to her resignation after teaching for half year. Most of the teachers of year 1 follow up to year 2 and change teachers in year 3 and follow them up to year 4.

Hi. Any idea if all Y1 students end school at the same time? My DS ends school at 2.30pm everyday except Tue and Fri.

            My dd's current time-table:
lesson ends at 2.30pm on Mon & Thur.
CCA on Tues and Fri and thus until 5pm.
lesson ends at 2pm on Wed but she is attending the 3rd language till 6.45pm.

CCAs actually end anytime from 6-6.30pm and CCA days are determined by the CCA and not standard Tues n Fri

Dd complained very tired and luckily not much homework at this moment.

This CL teacher is from China & quitted after 2 days of teaching (just started her teaching career in Sin) citing unable to cope with the weather/environment, what a joke!

My son from 1C, any other classes got affected by this?

Yes, not much home work (teachers gave them time to complete most of them in school) but I do see the math, english & CL homework quite challenging/interesting (quite high standard in my opinion).

My son is motivated to go to school everyday, likely due to new environment & friends.

He slept on Mon & Wed (Tue & Fri CCA - no time to sleep) soon not long after reaching home indicated he is tired, not an hr sleep, it was like 3 hrs. He don't sleep in afternoon during in Pri school life.

                    Y1 parents,

Have you kid settled his/her CCA?
Mine could not make it in many sports...
My son in table tennis team. This year about 20 Y1 join TT. The coach has selected the Group C school team for upcoming competition.

This present team is very motivated & they start training even before coach arrives at 8am Sat. They also requested to train beyond 11am (official release time) but the coach wants them to rest as they have been training very hard on Tue & Fri already.

Hope their passion can help them push thru' in the competition.

Any parents kids in the TT team to share more about their previous achievement?

                      Thanks Tays for sharing.

On Fri, dd has diagnostic test for english. Her class will be starting with physics. She has relief chinese teacher but the "real" teacher will come this Mon. So I guess her chinese homework will come thereafter. So far for geo & history, the students have been asked to write a brief intro about themselves.
